Top Uncommitted QB Devin Fuller to Declare on Sunday: Predicting Where He Lands
While everybody has been worried about quarterback Gunner Kiel and where he will possibly end up next, there are other solid quarterbacks out there. One of them is Devin Fuller, and he expects to make his decision this Sunday on where he will play football.
Fuller would like to play the quarterback position, but would also fit well at wide receiver. The best way to describe him is an athlete and a play-maker. He has great speed, he can throw accurately on the run, and he plays the game with great confidence.
The four-star quarterback will pick among five teams on his list. Let's recap those teams and predict where he ends up.
Texas Christian
1 of 5The TCU Horned Frogs are one of the teams that are on the list he'll choose from.
I don't really think this will be the school, but it does have somewhat of a slim shot because his father Bart played for this university back in the day. Here's a few things he said about the visit he made back in December.
“He said nothing was like this when he was here,” the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Fuller said. “The campus is one of most beautiful I’ve seen. I don’t know anything specific, but it’s just something about the campus that is really nice.”
UCLA
2 of 5The Bruins may have a better shot than TCU has, but I wouldn't consider them the favorites either. A few things they have going for them is the weather California has to offer and the talented recruiting class they're already bringing in.
But with a first-year head coach, there are better options out there for the young quarterback.
Here are a few things his father said about the trip.
"Playing in warm weather is a plus, Bart Fuller said. L.A., as opposed to the San Fernando Valley, is a little cooler with the breeze coming off the Pacific all the time.
They had about 18 to 20 recruits in and I think he felt real good about their plan for him, and the style of offense they’re going to be using. It’s kind of like multiple-type offenses, not set in stone, one type of offense ((like) pro or spread. They’ll do a variation on a lot of things.
"
Rutgers
3 of 5You have to consider Rutgers having a very good shot in this race to land the four-star quarterback. He's from New Jersey, he's comfortable with the area and he has already built relationships.
You always have to give the home team more credit and with an improving football program, they're in the thick of this race.
He recently visited the program and here are a few things he said about that visit.
"I’m definitely interested in to Rutgers, Fuller said. It’s something I’ve talked about with other people and some of their coaches. I’ve heard great things.
I’ve always loved Rutgers. They were the first to offer and that was before [defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley] got there.
"
Nebraska
4 of 5Nebraska already uses a dual-threat quarterback in Taylor Martinez and are looking to land another one in Fuller. You have to consider the Cornhuskers to be one of the favorites because it's probably the biggest program on his list and is in a better conference than some of the other teams.
Fuller wants to play for a team that uses his talents the right way and where he's in the best position to succeed. Nebraska is one of the front-runners here.
Fuller made his official visit back in October, here are a few things he said about it.
"The visit was really for my mom. I already knew everything that I need to know and my dad went on the trip to Nebraska with me. She wanted to know things about the program and the school. She really liked the coaches a lot. She knows they are not trying to lie to her.
They said that the quarterback that they have right now is a good quarterback, but they plan on bringing in a couple of quarterbacks and making him battle for the job. It would be an open competition.
"
Arizona
5 of 5Fuller expects to visit Arizona this week, and although it may be one of the last schools he visits, I think it will be the school he selects. This may be somewhat of a surprise to some, but I think it's the best fit for him.
Just look at all of the success dual-threat quarterbacks have already had in a Rich Rodriguez system. Fuller would fit perfectly in this system and his skill set would be used correctly.
He'd also have the opportunity to receive quality playing time a lot quicker than these other schools.
Arizona doesn't have a lot of depth at the quarterback position and he'd probably head into 2013 as a sophomore and the starter of this Wildcats football team.
Arizona may not exactly be close to his home in New Jersey, but it does seem like the right fit.
