Oregon Football: 4 Reasons Chip Kelly May Leave for Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With the news from ESPN that coach Chip Kelly is closing in on finalizing his deal to become the head coach of Tampa Bay, fans and players are left to ask the question why.
While nobody will ever be sure except for Kelly, there are some factors that could lead to the departure of Kelly from Oregon.
Here is a look at four reasons why Kelly is strongly considering the pros.
Coach at the Highest Level
1 of 4Since taking over at Oregon, Kelly has always made the comment of wanting to coach the best players in the world. In order for him to do that, Kelly would have to go to the NFL and coach the best talent in football.
While at Oregon, Kelly produced some outstanding players, but you cannot argue against the talent gap between the pros and college football.
Nothing to Prove
2 of 4One thing that can always be alarming to a fanbase is when a new coach achieves a level of success so quickly.
Since taking over at Oregon, Kelly has led the Ducks to three straight conference titles, three straight BCS game appearances and a Rose Bowl victory.
With so much success so quickly, the natural temptation is to head to the next level.
Doesn't Like College Administration Structure
3 of 4During the 2011 season, it become clear that Chip Kelly did not like the structure around Oregon in academics.
When Richard Lariviere was fired by the university, it became clear that Kelly was not enjoying this side of college life.
NCAA
4 of 4In the back of everyone's mind, it's hard to ignore the voice that's telling Oregon fans that this may have something to do with the NCAA investigation.
While all signs around the program point toward minor sanctions, the images of both Darron Thomas and now Chip Kelly leaving will put the fans and school on edge.
