Duke Basketball: 4 Recruits Mike Krzyzewski Still Wants for 2012 Class
The Duke Blue Devils' 2012 recruiting class begins and ends with Rasheed Sulaimon, but Mike Krzyzewski still has four recruits on his radar that he'd like to add to this class.
Krzyzewski has had an amazing amount of success at Duke, and he is now the winningest coach in college basketball history.
This is due, in part, to his recruiting ability.
While both Alex Murphy and Marshall Plumlee are going to have four years of eligibility because they red-shirtted this season, Krzyzewski is still looking for another star to add to his 2012 recruiting class.
These are his last four chances to do so.
Tony Parker
1 of 4Tony Parker is one of the best power forwards left in the 2012 class, and he would give Duke their first big man in the class.
Parker once had Duke as his No. 1 school, but now it is unknown.
Parker has great size at 6'9" and 270 pounds, but he is also very agile. He used to have a problem with his stamina, but now he is working on that to become a better athlete.
Able to carve out space on the low post, Parker sets himself well and provides a big target for a point guard. He has soft hands with sticky fingers, and, with his back to the basket, he can beat his defender with an arsenal of moves.
Parker is also a force on the defensive end because—apart from blocking shots—his mere presence is enough to scare most opponents away from the lane.
This kid completely changes the game for his team, and he is the type of power forward Mike
Krzyzewski would love to land.
Shabazz Muhammad
2 of 4The No. 1 recruit in the 2012 class, Shabazz Muhammad is an NBA-ready player. He will certainly be a star wherever he goes, and he could be the player that Duke relies upon next year.
Muhammad is the best slasher in the country; if he gets the ball within 15 feet of the basket, he is next to unstoppable because of his ability to drive well and finish through contact.
Muhammad has good range, although he is streaky. He can knock down three or fours threes in a row, but then he might miss four or five. If he can improve his consistency, there will be no way to criticize his play. He is already a star.
A very talented player with a great motor and incredible competitive drive, Muhammad would fit right in at Duke.
Ricardo Gathers
3 of 4Ricardo Gathers has the body of a football player, but athleticism that allows him to get his 6'7" 240-pound body off the ground high enough to be one of the best dunkers in the class of 2012.
Using his strength and athleticism, Gathers is a great option at power forward. His body helps him bow out extremely well, which allows him to be an elite rebounder.
Gathers can also carve out space on the low post and then score with an array of moves with his back to the basket.
While Gathers isn't quite as good as Tony Parker—to me—, he would certainly be a great option if Duke can't land Parker.
Amile Jefferson
4 of 4If Amile Jefferson had a solid jumper, he would be a true combo-forward.
For now, he is one of the most athletic power forwards in the class of 2012. And, he may be the most athletic big man left.
Jefferson has all the natural tools necessary to be a great players—size, length, athleticism and feel for the game. He has also worked hard to improve himself and become one of the best players in the nation at his age.
Jefferson plays with consistency and urgency, which makes him a great player. He always plays to his many strengths, and he disrupts opponents who are not used to his style of play.
Jefferson is a great scorer and defender, and he will be an elite player in college.
