Michigan Football Recruiting: Brady Hoke Building Dynasty with Incredible Class
The Michigan Wolverines overachieved in 2011, but now the talent is beginning to pour in.
I think most Michigan fans would agree that they did not send their best ever team to the Sugar Bowl, but who cares—they won.
Now it’s on to the next season, and so far so good for Brad Hoke’s bunch. Right now the Wolverines are ranked No. 7 on ESPN’s recruiting rankings. They currently have three ESPNU Top 150 commitments, and all of them can be major contributors right away.
Royce Jenkins-Stone (6'2", 215 pounds) will start at outside linebacker, but he has the speed to eventually take over the middle. His intangibles are off the charts, and he should be a major contributor right off the bat.
Kyle Kalis (6'5", 305 pounds) is a prototypical Big Ten offensive tackle who has future NFL star written all over him.
Terry Richardson (5'9", 160 pounds) is a corner who obviously needs to put on some weight, but he has incredible speed and the sort of athleticism that is rarely seen in the bulky Big Ten.
Right outside of the top 150 is another immediate contributor. Joe Bolden (6'2", 225 pounds) is an inside linebacker who can play multiple positions on the field.
Overall here's the breakdown at the current moment:
OL: 5
LB: 4
DB: 4
DT: 2
DE: 2
WR: 2
TE: 2
The depth on defense is going to be huge for the Wolverines. The defense was exposed against the best offenses they faced, and Hoke's first class should help change that in a hurry.
With Denard Robinson back for his senior season and Fitzgerald Toussaint running the ball, the Michigan offense is going to be outstanding.
With the depth on defense committed to Michigan in 2012, the Wolverines are going to be major players in the Big Ten for years to come—just like it's supposed to be.
