Auburn Football Recruiting 2012: 4 Commits Tigers Fans Can Get Excited About
While the recruiting process is heating up, it's really easy to lose track of which teams are doing well. Auburn is one of those teams quietly pulling off a great class, but you probably wouldn't know it, because coaching changes and the Michael Dyer transfer are taking over the news.
The Tigers have a top-25 class to add to an already talented but young team. Auburn had an okay season last year for what they had to work with, but with this class, they should be back on track in no time in the SEC.
Here are a few players that Tigers fans should be most excited about.
TE Ricky Parks
1 of 4When players like Cam Newton and company leave your offense, it's hard to find great players to fill those shoes. Tight end Ricky Parks is capable of taking a lot of pressure off the quarterback. This kid is extremely athletic and will likely make a ton of plays for this offense.
He's a big target at 6'4", 231 pounds and can get down field in a hurry. He has great hands and can even throw the football, as he played quarterback his junior year in high school.
Expect him to be a big part of the Auburn offense sooner than later.
RB Jovon Robinson
2 of 4You know a player is good when every top SEC program and Notre Dame and Penn State are throwing offers at him. That was the case for running back Jovon Robinson and with Dyer leaving for Arkansas State, Tiger fans will likely see this back real soon.
He isn't a runner who will "wow" you with speed, but he is a very productive runner, who hits the hole well and runs with great power. You better know how to tackle, because arm tackling does not bring this guy down.
QB Zeke Pike
3 of 4While everybody is too caught up in where Gunner Kiel will end up, Auburn's commitment in Zeke Pike isn't a bad prospect, either. He has ridiculous size at 6'6", 225 pounds and has great arm strength. He can also make plays with his feet as well and throw on the run with solid accuracy.
He still needs to improve on some things like field vision, as he hasn't played the quarterback position very long. But just looking at film and his physical traits, the sky is the limit on this kids potential.
Expect to see him soon and possibly be the guy that leads the Tigers back to the promise land.
WR Jaquay Williams
4 of 4For a team that struggled mightily to score points last year, a wide receiver of Williams' caliber is just what they needed. The thing that sticks out the most with him is his size at 6'4", 191 pounds. It doesn't matter who the quarterback is for the Tigers, just throw the ball up there and there's a great chance he will come down with it. He can also make great catches in traffic and picks up chunks of yards after the catch.
With a receiver that has this much upside, you have to be excited about his potential.
