Thomas Dimitroff, Atlanta Falcons Have Dilemma Selecting 2 New Coordinators
The Jacksonville Jaguars hired Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey as their head coach today, leaving Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff with a dilemma, according to ajc.com.
In addition, Falcons defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder resigned earlier this week, leaving both coordinator positions vacant.
The predicament presents both the opportunity for reward and the risk of failure for Atlanta. If there is anything that can be said about Thomas Dimitroff, it is that he will make a thorough evaluation before making hiring decisions that are hugely important to the Falcons franchise.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I am sure that head coach Mike Smith and owner Arthur Blank will both weigh in with their opinions, along with a host of other individuals that Dimitroff trusts.
There are at least two distinct directions that these critical hirings can take.
On one hand, successful rising stars could be hired. On the other, established coordinators could be brought in.
There is a third option that I hope will be considered: That Dimitroff can find offensive and defensive coordinators comfortable enough in their abilities, that they can allow Curtis Lofton and Matt Ryan to have more control in play calling.
One of the lessons learned this season is that certain players should be trusted to employ their experience in making quick adjustments. Today's NFL requires smart leaders on the field, and Atlanta's field generals should be given more authority.
For examples on each side of the ball, look at Jonathan Vilma and Drew Brees. These players have nearly unprecedented authority and success.
This coaching search will turn up many candidates, and I am confident that Dimitroff will find that balance of experience and willingness to share authority with smart and talented players.
