FA Rejects Vincent Kompany's Ban Appeal
Vincent Kompany's appeal against the ban imposed upon him due to reckless two-footed challenge on Luis Nani in the FA cup match between Manchester City and Manchester United, which might in other instances have resulted in a debilitating injury has been rightly rejected.
Although, Roberto Mancini expressed great confidence that the suspension would be overturned, an Independent Regulatory Commission reached a different verdict and slapped the City captain with a four game ban.
The FA has cited the following note: "An Independent Regulatory Commission has today dismissed a claim of wrongful dismissal from Manchester City's Vincent Kompany following his red card for Serious Foul Play in The FA Cup Third Round tie between Manchester City v Manchester United on 8 January 2012".

Referees have been highly criticized over the last several months for making crucial decisions that have impacted the game negatively. However, Chris Foy made a correct decision and showed consistency by showing Kompany a red card for a reckless challenge, despite the fact that no injuries were caused.
The game was notable for another major refereeing error. Namely, not penalizing Kolarov for the second time when he fouled a United player in the penalty box, which would have led to the score-line to be 4-1, thereby having wiped out any hopes of a city comeback.
This ban means that Kompany will serve out the ban effective immediately, thereby ruling him out of the crucial tie against Liverpool in the Carling Cup Semi-Final.
