Report: Lakers to Reassess Uniform Schedule After Changing 'City' Jerseys vs. Knicks
The Los Angeles Lakers seem to have noticed an unfortunate pattern with their "Lake Show" uniforms.
The Lakers, who were scheduled to wear the City Edition uniforms for Saturday night's road game against the New York Knicks, will instead switch to their purple "Lakers" Statement Edition uniforms, per team reporter Mike Trudell.
"I'm just hopeful that we're wearing matching jerseys and matching shorts," Lakers coach JJ Redick told reporters before the game. "I don't really care what color the jerseys are."

The change came after the Lakers marked a 1-9 record in their first ten games wearing the Lake Show uniform, as noted by ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
According to McMenamin, the Lakers are scheduled to wear their "Lake Show" uniforms seven more times this season. However, the team intends to "reassess its uniform schedule during the All-Star break," McMenamin added.
The Lakers were riding a six-game winning streak when the team debuted the City Edition uniforms on Nov. 21 against the Orlando Magic.
Los Angeles was leading by two points with 18 seconds remaining when Anthony Davis missed two free-throw attempts. Franz Wagner then sunk a go-ahead three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to seal a Magic win.
Things haven't gotten much better for the Lake Show Lakers since the uniform's debut, outside a lone Jan. 2 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the outfit.
In December alone there was a 29-point blowout by the Minnesota Timberwolves, an overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks and a missed LeBron James buzzer-beater in a loss to the Detroit Pistons.
The pattern has continued into 2025, per NBA LockerVision. The Lakers lost three straight games in the City Edition uniforms during the second week of January, including back-to-back blowouts by the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks during which the team was outscored by a combined 45 points.
By the time of the team's most recent City Edition outing on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, Lakers fans had begun to notice a pattern:
Sure enough, the Lakers went on to concede a 118-104 defeat to a Sixers team missing both Joel Embiid and Paul George.
That loss may have been the last straw for the City Edition uniforms. The Lakers will now look for some good luck by donning the Statement Edition look ahead of Saturday night's 8:30 p.m. ET tip-off at Madison Square Garden.
