NFC Championship Prediction

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JANUARY 19: (L-R) Jalen Hurts #1 and Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles react after defeating the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 in the NFC Divisional Playoff at Lincoln Financial Field on January 19, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Commanders have exceeded all expectations, thanks in large part to the play of probable Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn. They played the Eagles tough in a Week 11 match-up, but lost by eight. Five weeks later, Washington got the best of their division foes, winning by three.

In the third showdown between the teams this season, expect another close game that enters the fourth quarter as a toss-up.

Daniels, on the grandest stage he has played in since college, will have a play or two that inspires awe and lives forever in NFL social media. The defense will likely get to Jalen Hurts, maybe force a turnover or two that keeps things close.

Then, MVP candidate Saquon Barkley does what he has done all season: deliver a painstaking dagger in the hearts of the opposition with a big run that puts the home team out in front.

Heavy pressure from Philly's defensive line and a turnover, be it a fumble or an ill-fated interception, will seal the deal as head coach Nick Siriani leads his team back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years as NFC champions.

Prediction: Philadelphia defeats Washington, wins the NFC, 30-24

Until a team not quarterbacked by Joe Burrow comes along and proves they can go into Arrowhead Stadium in January and defeat the Kansas City Chiefs to cash their ticket to the Super Bowl, it is nearly impossible to pick against Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, and the rest of the defending champions.

Is this team as good as previous Super Bowl squads? Absolutely not.

Mahomes has not been as sharp, Travis Kelce looks slower than at any point in his Hall of Fame career, and the offense does not have that zip to it that they have in years past. If there was ever a year that a team like Buffalo, behind should-be MVP favorite Josh Allen could go into their house and snatch away the AFC Championship, it would be this year.

But there is a certain playoff magic about the Chiefs, in which Mahomes and Kelce turn on the jets and roar past the opposition, coming up with just the right connection at just the right time.

The Bills defense is susceptible to being picked apart, as we saw in the second half of the divisional round against Baltimore, when Lamar Jackson did everything he needed to do to put the Ravens in a position to beat Buffalo in their stadium.

It will be a high-scoring game, one that likely comes down to the final seconds. If that is the case, there is no team that has repeatedly proven to be able to win those games, amid the highest of pressure, like the Chiefs.

Mahomes and Co. survive to advance and compete for a never-before-seen three-peat.

Prediction: Chiefs best Bills by three, 38-35
