Dorial Green-Beckham: What Program Will Snag the Nation's Top Recruit?

Jim SullivanJun 7, 2018

After playing in the 2012 Army All-American Bowl, this superstar recruit is still undecided in where he will be spending the next four years of his football career. Considered the No. 2 overall high school senior by Scout.com and No. 1 by Rivals.com, Green-Beckham is in the best position of his young life.

Hailing from Springfield, Missouri, this wide receiver had a superb year playing for Hillcrest High School. Coming in at 6'6" and 220 pounds, he is a huge target with great speed. Breaking free of coverage and becoming a deep threat is a hobby of his, but Green-Beckham also presents himself as a danger in the red-zone quite often.

After the All-American Bowl playing for the West, Green-Beckham discussed his pending decision on his collegiate exploits:

"

"Just a top five. Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Missouri. I am probably gonna take one visit in January to Arkansas. The only other official visit I have taken was to Texas. All five schools are equal to me so I just have to see what happens on February 1.

"

Still with five of the best programs in the country left to consider, Green-Beckham has just under a month to make up his mind. National Signing Day is approaching fast and his choice won't be simple to the least, but expect it to really make a difference in who ends up with the best recruiting class this postseason.

Green-Beckham is a brilliant recruit that will be a force wherever he ends up, making defensive coordinators game plan around his talents. Question is, will it be SEC or Big 12 coaches who will be threatened every season?

The Missouri Tigers seem to be the least likely. Wanting to escape his home state, Green-Beckham is looking outwards towards the big kids on the block.

Texas is solid, but certainly in a rebuilding mode. After losing the National Title to Alabama in 2009, they haven't returned to prominence. Green-Beckham is looking for a place to not only make an immediate impact, but also have immediate success.

Arkansas has evolved from just another SEC West program into a constant threat to the powerhouses. Easily a national championship contender over the next four years, Petrino and company would love to have a threat like Green-Beckham running routes for Tyler Wilson.

Oklahoma, led by a formidable Bob Stoops, is in desperate need of a big-time receiver like Green-Beckham. After losing Ryan Broyles to injury this past season, OU requires a huge target for returning QB Landry Jones to throw to as a deep threat. Stoops and the Sooners are always top contenders for the title and Green-Beckham can help them get there.

Alabama finishes out this list. Under Nick Saban, the Tide have rolled to a National Title in addition to playing in another this season. Strong leadership by junior Heisman candidate Trent Richardson and sophomore QB AJ McCarron has helped the 'Bama offense, but grabbing Green-Beckham would give the Tide another Julio Jones type receiver to threaten their competition with.

In all honesty, Green-Beckham should focus on the final three here. All are national title contenders right now and will be for years to come under their current coaches. It should come down to the wire on arguably the top recruit in the country, but what choice he makes will make ripples throughout all of next season.
