Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Out for Rest of 2024 NFL Season with Shoulder Injury

Julia StumbaughDec 26, 2024

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's right shoulder injury will sideline him for the final two weeks of the 2024 season.

He is "not currently expected to require surgery and is projected to make a full recovery," according to the team. Lamb was placed on injured reserve on Saturday.

Lamb has played with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder since a Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 3.

The news comes after the Cowboys were eliminated from postseason contention ahead of Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Lamb appeared to aggravate the injury on a tackle in Sunday's third quarter. He finished out the game, but said after the victory that his shoulder was "out of whack."

"I'm not even going to lie to you. I'm just out there battling and doing what I do," Lamb said after making seven catches for 105 receiving yards in Sunday's win. "So, yeah, bro. It's not fun."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this week that the team will "leave it up to the player" regarding whether Lamb wanted to continue playing through the injury.

The Cowboys then said in Thursday's statement that the decision to shut down Lamb had been made after "additional examinations and scans this week" on his shoulder.

Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million extension with the Cowboys ahead of the 2024 season. Giving him as much time as possible to recover will improve the team's chances of returning to the playoffs once Dak Prescott returns from his season-ending hamstring injury.

Despite playing without Prescott and dealing with the shoulder injury since Week 9, Lamb headed into Thursday ranked behind only Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson for the NFL lead with 1,194 receiving yards through 16 games.

After topping 1,100 receiving yards in four straight seasons, he will look to resume his role as Prescott's No. 1 target in 2025.
