NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Believed to Be Eyeing PG, Big Man 'to Fill out Their Roster'
The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be seeking some reinforcements ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline.
Tim Bontemps of ESPN reported Friday that they want to shore up two key spots following an uneven 13-11 start.
"That's led to a belief among rival scouts and executives that the Lakers would love to find both a point guard and a big man to fill out their roster—though adding both, with the team's limited assets, won't be easy," he wrote.
Bontemps noted that the Lakers could use guard D'Angelo Russell's expiring contract as well as their 2029 and 2031 first-round picks to potentially facilitate a move.
The Lakers, losers of three of their last four games, are in eighth place in the Western Conference. They're 3-7 in their last 10 games following a 10-4 start.
LeBron James, who has missed practice time this week for personal reasons, is expected to sit out Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a foot injury, the team said Thursday.
Making a move to improve the roster could help shake up the current pace and maximize the dwindling time James has left in the NBA.
