MLB Free-Agent Tracker 2024: Updates on All the Latest Contract Signings and Trades
Some Major League Baseball offseasons lack excitement with a shortage of top-end talent on the free agency market.
This is not one of them.
A number of the top players in the entire league, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso, were available for teams willing to pay the right price. Their free-agency decisions in December and January could ultimately determine who lifts the World Series trophy in October.
With that in mind, here is a look at this offseason's free-agent signings as they unfold.

The former Houston Astros star has won two World Series titles and earned his first Gold Glove award last year while hitting 25 home runs with a .260 average.

Reliever Robert Garcia is being sent to the Rangers in the deal, Passan added.
Jesús Luzardo Traded to Phillies from Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies traded for Miami Marlins pitcher Jesús Luzardo, according to The Athletic's Matt Gelb. "Miami will receive Starlyn Caba, a 19-year-old shortstop considered one of the better prospects in the Phillies organization, as part of the return. Emaarion Boyd, a speedy A-ball outfielder, is also part of the package," according to Gelb.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand also reported minor league catcher Paul McIntosh will be traded to the Phillies as part of the deal.
Carlos Santana Agrees to Contract with Guardians

Brandon Waddell Signs with Mets

The 30-year-old has made just 11 appearances in the majors, most recently in 2021 with the St. Louis Cardinals, but spent the past few years in Korea's KBO. The left-hander finished last season with a 3.12 ERA in 14 starts for the Doosan Bears.
Tomoyuki Sugano Signs with Orioles

Passan called him "one of the best pitchers in Japanese baseball this year, posting a 1.67 ERA and walking 16 against 111 strikeouts over 156.2 innings."
Jeffrey Springs Reportedly Traded to A's

The Rays reportedly will receive "right-handers Joe Boyle and Jacob Watters, outfielder Will Simpson as well as a compensation A round draft pick from the A's," according to Passan.
Kyle Tucker Traded to Cubs
