Video: Mike Tyson Talks Boxing Return for Jake Paul Fight; 'It Was Written'
Less than two weeks away from his showdown with Jake Paul, Mike Tyson is not surprised that he's getting ready to step into the boxing ring at the age of 58.
In a clip from his Behind the Mike show on YouTube, Tyson explained his journey back to the sport that made him famous "was written" long before he was born.
This is a different version of Tyson than the one who was the biggest star in boxing during his peak in the '80s and '90s. Iron Mike admits in the video he doesn't have to "call people bad names" anymore and he's "really happy" with where he's at right now.
As for how he feels as a boxer going into this fight, Tyson said he's "good enough" to beat Paul.
Tyson certainly looks to be in a good place physically after an ulcer issue caused the bout to be postponed from its originally-scheduled July 20 date.
The upcoming bout with Paul will be Tyson's first sanctioned fight since June 11, 2005. He is 50-6 with two no-contests in 58 career bouts.
Paul has accrued a 10-1 record in his 11 fights since turning pro as a boxer in 2020. He most recently defeated bare-knuckle boxer Mike Perry on July 20 in a bout that was scheduled after Tyson's illness forced him to postpone their match.
Tyson and Paul will square off on Nov. 15 from AT&T Stadium.
