NFL Coach Hypes Patrick Mahomes: Chiefs QB 'Is a Gladiator in the Coliseum'
After helping the Kansas City Chiefs improve to 7-0 with a 27-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes received praise from an opposing coach for his ability to continue producing under pressure.
The coach told The Athletic's Mike Sando that Mahomes' control of the offense even while improvising is a key reason for Kansas City's impressive win streak.
"It takes a lot of effort to get everyone on the same page for the scramble drill," the coach said. "The only guys who can do it when you need it in a pinch are the veterans. They get slow and worn out. Mahomes is a gladiator in the Coliseum and the lions are right on him."

Mahomes completed 27 of his 38 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's win. In all, the Chiefs have won 13 straight games dating back to last season, the team's second 13-game win streak since Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback.
The 2024 Chiefs are much different than previous iterations of the team with Mahomes under center, as they don't solely rely on outscoring their opponents with big offensive performances to get wins. Kansas City has shown its resiliency time and time again, leading many to believe it will achieve the first three-peat in modern NFL history.
Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to move to 8-0 when they meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football next week.
