The 4 Nations Face-Off will take the place of the 2025 NHL All-Star Game, and the round-robin tournament will be held from Feb. 12 through Feb. 20 in Montreal and Boston.
The United States will wear its customary navy blue jersey emblazoned with "USA" on the front, while Canada is set to don red jerseys featuring the signature red maple leaf.
Sweden will wear yellow jerseys with the iconic Three Crowns or Tre Kronor displayed prominently, and Finland be decked out in white and blue jerseys highlighting the word "Suomi," which means Finland in Finnish.
The 4 Nations Face-Off figures to be a good warm-up for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, which will see NHL players finally return to the Olympic stage.
NHL players last competed at the Olympics in 2014, as the NHL and NHLPA were unable to reach an agreement on player participation in 2018 and 2022.
Aside from the annual IIHF World Championship, the 4 Nations Face-Off will mark the first major international competition featuring NHL players since the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
While the entirety of the 4 Nations Face-Off rosters are yet to be determined, the NHL announced the first six players for each team in June.
Team USA will be led by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk, Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes, New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox and Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy.
Canada is made up of Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point, Bruins forward Brad Marchand and Colorado Avalanche teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.
Sweden is comprised of Maple Leafs forward William Nylander, Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg, Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad, Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman, Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling and Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson.
Finland will feature Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov, Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho, Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen, Predators goalie Juuse Saros and Dallas Stars teammates Miro Heiskanen and Esa Lindell.
Of course, injuries could potentially necessitate changes to the rosters that have already been announced, but all four teams are set to bring star-studded lineups with them to Montreal and Boston regardless.
