Steelers Rumors: 'What the Hell Is Mike Tomlin Doing?' Is Being Asked Around the NFL
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin's decision at quarterback is reportedly turning heads around the NFL.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport revealed on Saturday that the Steelers are planning to give Russell Wilson his first start of the season in Week 7 over Justin Fields, who started in Pittsburgh's first six games of the year and helped the team finish with a 4-2 record.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the choice has resulted in confusion.
"What the hell is Mike Tomlin doing? That's the question being asked around the league, including in the Steelers' own building (and even in the building of the New York Jets, Pittsburgh's Week 7 opponent), as Tomlin is set to make a curious quarterback change on Sunday night," Russini wrote.
Russini noted that Fields has the "support of his teammates" and is still expected to see some limited playing time against the New York Jets on Sunday, although questions remain surrounding Wilson's potential performance against a Jets secondary that owns the NFL's second-best pass defense.
"Some around the league posed this question: If you are going to switch to the QB who hasn't taken one live regular-season snap, why do it against a fierce Jets defense? Pittsburgh has the New York Giants next week — wouldn't that make more sense for Wilson's debut?"
Wilson was initially named the Steelers' Week 1 starter on Aug. 28 before he aggravated a calf injury and was forced to miss the team's first six games.
Fields has completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns compared to one interception in six appearances this season. He's added 231 yards and five more scores on the ground.
Tomlin's decision to start Wilson will be monitored throughout the Steelers' clash with the Jets on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. ET.
