10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️
The Yankees were down 3-1 in the top of the eighth inning before Aaron Judge smacked a two-run, two-strike, two-out homer off Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase to tie the game at three.
Giancarlo Stanton then smoked a solo homer to put the Yanks up 4-3.
A Gleyber Torres sacrifice fly scored Anthony Volpe in the top of the ninth, and the Yankees led 5-3 going into the bottom of the frame with closer Luke Weaver on the mound.
José Ramírez led off with a single, but Josh Naylor then grounded out into a double play. Lane Thomas then nearly hit the ball out of the park before it hit the top of the center field wall and bounced back into play, resulting in a double.
Noel then came off the bench to pinch-hit and crushed a 1-0 pitch to left field to tie the game.
In the top of the 10th inning, Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm cracked a high chopper toward second baseman Andrés Giménez. The ball could have easily bounced over Giménez's head or Chisholm could have beaten the throw. However, Giménez made a tremendous play to get Chisholm out after a Naylor stretch.
Two batters later, Volpe struck out to end the Yankees' threat.
In the bottom of the 10th, Bo Naylor hit a leadoff single and advanced to third after a Brayan Rocchio sacrifice bunt and Steven Kwan groundout. Up strolled Fry, who pinch-hit for Kyle Manzardo, the hero in the third thanks to a two-run blast.
The No. 2 spot proved productive on this evening, as Fry cracked a two-run homer for the victory.
Needless to say, the win probability odds resembled a roller coaster, as noted by Sarah Langs of MLB.com.
The Yankees now lead the best-of-seven series two games to one. Game 4 will take place in Cleveland on Friday at 8:08 p.m. ET.
