(4) Georgia at (1) Texas Prediction
3 of 3
In what is one of the biggest games of the 2024 college football season, the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs travel to Austin for a showdown with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns.
Texas has been the best team, by far, through the first half of the season and will be looking to retain their top spot in the AP Top 25.
The Longhorns demolished their rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners, to the tune of 34-3. They have a great defensive secondary but their running game and rush defense has left a lot to be desired, potentially opening the door for the Bulldogs to exploit it.
Georgia's lone loss came to Alabama, 41-34, and their secondary is the antithesis of Texas', its greatest defensive weakness.
It may prove the difference between the two, especially against an explosive Longhorns passing game led by Quinn Ewers, who has completed 72.2 percent of his passes for 890 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Ewers is in the midst of his most efficient season to date and will inevitably be in the Heisman conversation. A win over the Bulldogs that would make it difficult for Kirby Smart and the two-time champs to remain a playoff contender in 2024, would be a great way to establish himself as the front-runner.
The Longhorns have been demonstrably better than Georgia this season and Saturday in Austin, will prove it on the field with a seven-point win.
Prediction: Texas knocks off Georgia
