NFL Rumors: Eagles Will Get Jets' 2nd-Round Pick If Reddick Is Traded to NFC Team

Adam WellsOct 15, 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles may get even more compensation than initially believed when they originally traded Haason Reddick to the New York Jets during the offseason.

Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Eagles would receive a 2026 second-round draft pick from the Jets if New York trades Reddick to an NFC team.

Anderson previously reported on Oct. 1 that the 2026 conditional pick from the Jets was involved in the deal, but it was "dependent upon the specifics of where Reddick lands if traded again."

When the deal was originally announced on April 1, it was for a 2026 third-round pick that could become a second-rounder if specific terms were met. It was believed those specific terms were built around playing time and performance benchmarks.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported at the time (h/t ESPN's Rich Cimini) the Eagles would get a second-round pick if Reddick played 67.5 percent of the defensive snaps and recorded 10 sacks for the Jets.

Reddick still has yet to take part in any activities with the Jets since the trade went down as part of a contract holdout. He is owed $14.3 million this season in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract signed with Philadelphia in March 2022.

CAA dropped Reddick as a client last week, and he declined to sign a one-year extension with the Jets, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 30-year-old has hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha as his new agents, per Rapoport.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Tuesday that the Jets have given Reddick's camp a "short window" to seek a trade, with Rosenhaus reaching out to teams to gauge their interest.

Reddick has averaged 20.8 quarterback hits, 12.8 tackles for loss and 12.7 sacks per season from 2020 to 23. Will McDonald is currently the only Jets player with more than 2.5 sacks through six games this season.

The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 5.
