Power Ranking Top 25 Quarterbacks in College Football After Week 7
Welcome to Bleacher Report's top 25 college football quarterback rankings after Week 7.
These rankings are a weekly feature published each Tuesday morning throughout the 2024 season, with the goal of identifying the 25 best QBs in the country each week as the season unfolds.
The only thing that matters here is on-field production in 2024.
That means past performance, future expectations, physical tools and NFL upside have all been removed from the equation.
Every quarterback's individual production and quality of opponent will be considered each week, and players will rise and fall based on where they ranked the previous week, so it will be a fluid process.
If your favorite team's quarterback is not currently on the list, fear not. If a guy is putting up numbers, he will find his way onto the list. On the flip side, a strong first half of the season will only go so far if a player falls flat in Week 8 and fails to continue his early success.

Nos. 25-21
2 of 10
25. Quinn Ewers, Texas (Previous Rank: INJ)
Stats: 78-of-108, 890 yards, 9 TD, 3 INT; 4 rush yards, 1 TD
After missing games against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State, Ewers returned from an oblique strain just in time for the Red River Rivalry. He completed 20-of-29 pass attempts with one touchdown and one interception while also adding a rushing touchdown in a 34-3 blowout. He returns to the rankings at No. 25 and should rise quickly in the coming weeks.
24. Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati (Previous Rank: 17)
Stats: 133-of-201, 1,722 yards, 13 TD, 3 INT; 70 rush yards, 4 TD
Sorsby threw eight touchdowns without an interception through Cincinnati's first four games, and he had 426 passing yards and four touchdowns in a Week 5 loss to Texas Tech, but he is coming off his worst game of the season. He threw two interceptions and completed just 25-of-38 pass attempts, but the Bearcats pulled out a 19-13 win over UCF.
23. Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt (Previous Rank: 23)
Stats: 85-of-123, 1,116 yards, 10 TD, 1 INT; 388 rush yards, 2 TD
Pavia has been extremely efficient in the passing game the last two weeks in conference wins over Alabama (16-of-20, 252 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT) and Kentucky (15-of-18, 143 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT), and he also has a Week 1 win over Virginia Tech on his resume. The New Mexico State transfer has the Commodores knocking on the door for a spot in the AP poll.
22. Josh Hoover, TCU (Previous Rank: 20)
Stats: 162-of-236, 2,007 yards, 16 TD, 6 INT; -20 rush yards, 2 TD
Hoover threw six interceptions over Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6, but he still has improved numbers across the board in his second year as TCU's starter. He has improved his completion percentage (62.1 to 68.6 percent) and yards per attempt (7.4 to 8.5), and after a bye in Week 7, he returns to action against Utah on Saturday night.
21. Luke Altmyer, Illinois (Previous Rank: 21)
Stats: 111-of-164, 1,426 yards, 14 TD, 1 INT; 90 rush yards
The Fighting Illini pulled out an overtime win over Purdue on Saturday, passing for 379 yards and three touchdowns while also adding a season-high 60 rushing yards and another score on the ground. He has already eclipsed last year's 13 touchdown passes, which were accompanied by 10 interceptions during a 5-7 season for Illinois.
Nos. 20-16
3 of 10
20. Drew Allar, Penn State (Previous Rank: 13)
Stats: 103-of-146, 1,492 yards, 11 TD, 4 INT; 121 rush yards, 3 TD
The Nittany Lions escaped with a 33-30 win over USC in overtime on Saturday to remain undefeated, with Allar throwing for a career-high 391 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also threw three interceptions, which helped keep the Trojans in the game in the first place, and he slid in the rankings as a result.
19. Alonza Barnett III, James Madison (Previous Rank: HM)
Stats: 102-of-177, 1,472 yards, 15 TD, 1 INT; 309 rush yards, 5 TD
After a disappointing loss to Louisiana-Monroe in Week 6, Barnett rebounded with four total touchdowns in a 39-7 victory over a good Coastal Carolina team. He had 13 total touchdowns in back-to-back wins over North Carolina and Ball State earlier this year, and he is capable of lighting it up any given week in Sun Belt action.
18. Bryson Daily, Army (Previous Rank: 24)
Stats: 20-of-37, 482 yards, 6 TD, 0 INT; 738 rush yards, 14 TD
Daily leads all quarterbacks and ranks seventh in the nation with 738 rushing yards, and he padded those stats with 12 carries for 136 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's lopsided 44-10 victory over UAB. His six touchdown passes on only 37 attempts also speak to his ability to burn the defense over the top when they sell out for the run.
17. Chandler Morris, North Texas (Previous Rank: 19)
Stats: 150-of-233, 1,979 yards, 20 TD, 7 INT; 69 rush yards, 2 TD
With 337 passing yards and four touchdowns in a Week 7 victory over Florida Atlantic, Morris is now tied with Heisman Trophy front-runner Cam Ward for the FBS lead with 20 passing touchdowns. The TCU transfer had a pair of three-interception performances earlier this year, but he has tossed 11 touchdown passes against just one interception in his last three games.
16. Will Rogers, Washington (Previous Rank: 11)
Stats: 153-of-212, 1,820 yards, 13 TD, 2 INT; -46 rush yards
Rogers was limited to just 195 yards and one touchdown by the Iowa defense in a 40-16 loss, and he also threw his second interception of the season. The Mississippi State transfer still leads the Big Ten with 1,820 passing yards, and his 72.2 percent completion rate is among the best in the country, but he had his worst game of the season on Saturday.
Nos. 15-11
4 of 10
15. Jordan McCloud, Texas State (Previous Rank: HM)
Stats: 141-of-198, 1,713 yards, 19 TD, 5 INT; 202 rush yards, 4 TD
McCloud threw for 3,657 yards and 35 touchdowns at James Madison last season before entering the transfer portal and landing at Texas State. He has thrown multiple touchdown passes in all six games so far this season, and he had his best game of the year on Saturday, completing 24-of-29 attempts for 320 yards and four touchdowns while adding a fifth score on the ground against Arkansas State.
14. Carson Beck, Georgia (Previous Rank: 22)
Stats: 142-of-209, 1,818 yards, 15 TD, 5 INT; 57 rush yards
Beck posted his second 400-yard passing game in the last three weeks on Saturday against Mississippi State, but he also threw five interceptions in those two contests, including two in Week 7 to go along with his three touchdowns. The Bulldogs still came away with a 41-31 victory, and undefeated Texas is up next in Week 8.
13. Blake Horvath, Navy (Previous Rank: 14)
Stats: 39-of-59, 771 yards, 7 TD, 1 INT; 565 rush yards, 10 TD
Horvath is the only player in the country averaging at least 100 passing and 100 rushing yards per game, and while he has been used primarily as a running option, he has also proven to be a weapon in the passing game. His 13.1 yards per pass attempt are tops among all quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts.
12. John Mateer, Washington State (Previous Rank: 10)
Stats: 106-of-188, 1,601 yards, 13 TD, 6 INT; 499 rush yards, 6 TD
The opposition has been better prepared for Matter's dual-threat ability the past two weeks, limiting him to 74 yards on 38 carries, though he did log his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on Saturday in a win over Fresno State. He completed just 17-of-35 pass attempts for 172 yards and an interception, but the Cougars pulled out a 25-17 victory.
11. Eli Holstein, Pittsburgh (Previous Rank: 4)
Stats: 127-of-200, 1,700 yards, 15 TD, 5 INT; 266 rush yards, 3 TD
Holstein turned in his first dud of the season in Week 7, completing 14-of-28 passes for 133 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He also managed just one rushing yard after racking up 169 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the previous two games. Despite his off day, Pitt still improved to 6-0 with a 17-15 win over Cal.
Nos. 10-6
5 of 10
10. Kyle McCord, Syracuse (Previous Rank: 15)
Stats: 185-of-282, 2,160 yards, 19 TD, 6 INT; -12 rush yards, 1 TD
McCord leads the country in completions (185) and pass attempts (282), and his 2,160 passing yards trail only Jaxson Dart (2,384) and Cam Ward (2,219) on the FBS leaderboard. He completed 31-of-42 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns in a win over NC State on Saturday, and he now has at least 300 passing yards in six straight games to open the year.
9. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU (Previous Rank: 6)
Stats: 160-of-249, 1,989 yards, 18 TD, 6 INT; 11 rush yards, 2 TD
Nussmeier didn't have his prettiest game of the season in Week 7, completing just 22-of-51 pass attempts while throwing two interceptions for the second week in a row. However, he delivered the game-winning, 25-yard touchdown pass to Kyren Lacy in overtime to give LSU a 29-26 victory over Ole Miss.
8. Will Howard, Ohio State (Previous Rank: 12)
Stats: 121-of-165, 1,574 yards, 14 TD, 3 INT; 77 rush yards, 5 TD
Despite a 32-31 loss to Oregon, Howard had arguably his best game of the season, completing 28-of-38 pass attempts for 326 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. He has completed at least 80 percent of his passes three times in his last four games, and his 14 touchdown passes are tied with Kurtis Rourke (Indiana) and Luke Altmyer (Illinois) for the Big Ten lead.
7. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss (Previous Rank: 4)
Stats: 151-of-215, 2,384 yards, 14 TD, 3 INT; 183 rush yards, 3 TD
It's been a tale of two seasons for Dart through Ole Miss' first seven games, and things are trending in the wrong direction:
- First 4 games (4-0): 95-of-119, 79.8%, 1,554 yards, 12 TD, 2 INT
- Last 3 games (1-2): 56-of-96, 58.3%, 830 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
He threw 18 incompletions and an interception in Saturday's overtime loss to LSU, and the Rebels now face a daunting uphill battle to stay alive in the College Football Playoff picture.
6. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (Previous Rank: 7)
Stats: 172-of-237, 2,018 yards, 17 TD, 4 INT; -25 rush yards, 1 TD
Sanders threw for 388 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday night against Kansas State, but the Buffaloes came up short in a 31-28 loss. In four games since suffering an ugly loss to Nebraska in Week 2, he has completed 74.5 percent of his passes for 1,329 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.
5. Cade Klubnik, Clemson
6 of 10
Previous Rank: 8
Stats: 123-of-184, 1,528 yards, 17 TD, 2 INT; 198 rush yards, 4 TD
With a convincing 49-14 victory on the road against Wake Forest, the Clemson Tigers have run their winning streak to five games since an ugly season-opening loss to Georgia.
During that five-game stretch, Klubnik has steadily emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the country, and he completed 31-of-41 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's lopsided win.
The former 5-star recruit only had 19 touchdown passes in 13 games last season, so he is well on his way to shattering the numbers he posted in his first season as Clemson's starting quarterback.
4. Kurtis Rourke, Indiana
7 of 10
Previous Rank: 3
Stats: 118-of-160, 1,752 yards, 14 TD, 2 INT; 44 rush yards, 2 TD
The Indiana Hoosiers were on a bye in Week 7, but they still moved up two spots in the AP poll and now sit at No. 16 in the country thanks to their 6-0 start.
Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke has been one of the biggest reasons for their unexpected early success, and he has done a nice job spreading it around in the passing game with his 14 touchdown passes going to seven different receivers.
The Hoosiers are back in action on Saturday against Nebraska in what will be their toughest test of the season thus far.
3. Jalen Milroe, Alabama
8 of 10
Previous Rank: 2
Stats: 96-of-132, 1,483 yards, 12 TD, 4 INT; 319 rush yards, 11 TD
Even when he has a bad game and throws a pair of interceptions, Jalen Milroe is still capable of making a major positive impact thanks to his dual-threat ability.
While he was picked off twice, he completed 16-of-23 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown, and he added two more scores on the ground, giving him 23 total touchdowns on the year, tied with Cam Ward (Miami) and Jordan McCloud (Texas State) for most among all FBS players.
The Crimson Tide avoided disaster and pulled out a 27-25 victory over South Carolina in Week 7, but an even tougher test awaits this weekend when they travel to Knoxville to take on No. 11 Tennessee.
2. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon
9 of 10
Previous Rank: 9
Stats: 153-of-201, 1,790 yards, 13 TD, 3 INT; 103 rush yards, 4 TD
After a shaky Week 6 performance against Michigan State, Dillon Gabriel put together a brilliant performance in a hard-fought, 32-31 victory over Ohio State that vaulted the Oregon Ducks to No. 2 in the latest AP poll.
The 23-year-old completed 23-of-34 pass attempts for 341 yards and two touchdowns while adding a third score on the ground, and he led an 11-play, 74-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal with 1:47 remaining.
The Ducks still have to face No. 22 Illinois at home and No. 24 Michigan on the road among their final five regular-season games, but they survived by far the toughest test of the year in Week 7.
1. Cam Ward, Miami
10 of 10
Previous Rank: 1
Stats: 148-of-214, 2,219 yards, 20 TD, 5 INT; 161 rush yards, 3 TD
Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes were on a bye in Week 7, so he did not have an opportunity to further his case for Heisman Trophy honors, but he remains the early favorite to take home the hardware.
A tough road game against Louisville is up next on Saturday, but that contest looked significantly more daunting before the Cardinals suffered back-to-back losses to Notre Dame and SMU in Week 5 and Week 6.
They managed to avoid Clemson, Pitt and SMU on the schedule, so they do not face another ranked opponent the rest of the way, but the Hurricanes appear to be on a collision course with one of those teams in the ACC championship game.
