Shaheed Trade Value, Waiver-Wire WRs After Marvin Harrison Jr., Chris Olave Injuries
The New Orleans Saints ruled out Chris Olave for the remainder of Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he suffered a concussion in the first half, leaving the team without its top weapon at wideout.
It wasn't the only major injury at the position, as Marvin Harrison Jr. also left the Arizona Cardinals matchup against the Green Bay Packers with a concussion and underwent evaluation.
Both pieces of news have obvious relevance for fantasy football enthusiasts, especially if Olave and Harrison are forced to miss more than just the remainder of Sunday's contest.
Below, we'll break down the trade value of Saints wideout Rashid Shaheed following the injury, along with providing you a few waiver-wire additions worth targeting this week, including:
- Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons
- Gabe Davis, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
Rashid Shaheed's Trade Value
1 of 4
Olave's injury likely won't cost him multiple games beyond Sunday, if any at all, so Shaheed's trade value shouldn't change much. He's 100 percent a player you should be considering a weekly flex option, though if Derek Carr ends up being out for 3-4 weeks, as reported on Sunday, he's a bit more of a shaky flex option.
Don't sell the farm to add him with Olave injured, in other words. It's still unclear how Spencer Rattler will spread the ball around under center for the Saints, though Shaheed's punt return for a touchdown on Sunday is a good reminder of how explosive he is in general.
Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons
2 of 4
Mooney was a popular target on waivers this past week after lighting up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the tune of nine catches for 105 yards and two scores in Week 5, so there's a chance he isn't available for you going forward.
But if he is, scoop him up. Kirk Cousins appeared to finally be comfortable in Atlanta's offense last week and Mooney already had three double-digit performances in PPR leagues coming into Week 6. He's a legitimate flex option going forward.
Gabe Davis, Jacksonville Jaguars
3 of 4
Gabe Davis finally had his breakout performance for the Jaguars this season after signing a three-year, $39 million contract with the team ahead of the 2024 campaign, nabbing five passes for 45 yards and two scores on Sunday.
Yes, it's concerning that Davis' five receptions were his most in a game this season, or that his season-high in yardage came in Week 1, with just 62. The emergence of rookie Brian Thomas Jr., combined with the return of tight end Evan Engram and the presence of Christian Kirk, could make Davis a risky play going forward.
But it's a positive sign to see that he garnered eight targets on Sunday, second only to Engram (10). Trevor Lawrence's comfortability with Davis could be increasing, making him a player who should be on your radar going forward as a flex possibility.
Just prepare yourself for the ups and downs he provides. He's tended to be an all-or-nothing player in fantasy football throughout the years.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
4 of 4
Downs continued to be a sneaky fantasy producer on Sunday, registering double-digit fantasy points in PPR leagues for the third straight game. The concern with Downs is that his fantastic form has come with Joe Flacco under center, not Anthony Richardson, but he's clearly cemented himself as a crucial part of Indy's offense.
He absolutely should be rostered in all formats and considered a weekly flex option.
