CFB Playoff Picture 2024-25: Updated Standings and Bracket Predictions After Week 6
Shock after shock after shock after shock was delivered in Week 6.
Four Top 25 teams fell on the road to unranked foes on Saturday, and in turn, the entire College Football Playoff conversation was altered.
The Vanderbilt Commodores beat the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide for the first time since 1984, one week after Bama took down the Georgia Bulldogs at home.
Bama wasn't the only SEC playoff contender to lose, though, the Missouri Tigers fell to the Texas A&M Aggies and Tennessee Volunteers slipped up against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Carnage reigned supreme in the Big Ten as well with the Michigan Wolverines and USC Trojans dropping road results.
Alabama. Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan and USC all entered the weekend inside the top 11 of the AP Top 25, so a total reorganization of the poll is in store on Sunday afternoon.

Alabama's Loss Shakes Up Entire Playoff Conversation
2 of 5
Vanderbilt threw the biggest curveball into the 2024 CFB Playoff conversation with its upset win over Alabama.
Just a week ago, the Crimson Tide were being crowned as a potential SEC champion, but now they are bound for a massive drop in the AP Top 25.
Alabama is likely to at least drop out of the top 10 due to the magnitude of the defeat, and the loss puts the program's consistency under DeBoer into question.
Alabama is not completely out of the 12-team playoff conversation because it has a handful of Top 25 games left on its schedule.
The Crimson Tide have a week to recover before they visit the Tennessee Volunteers on October 19. That will be a massive contest for the Tide to rebound on the national stage.
A win over the Vols would help Bama work itself back into the SEC title conversation, and after that, the Tide will be favored in every game.
The 12-team playoff allows teams to have some margin for error, and that's what Bama now has after Saturday's loss.
There's even a scenario that a two-loss Bama with defeats to Vandy and Tennessee and a win over Georgia gets into the 12-team field.
But for now all Bama can do is try to rebound and get ready first for the South Carolina Gamecocks next Saturday.
Missouri Falls Flat in Loss to Texas A&M
3 of 5
Missouri did not suffer the most embarrassing loss in the SEC on Saturday, but its playoff hopes still took a major hit.
The Tigers, who underperformed in September, were outclassed in every way by Texas A&M.
Mizzou struggled to put away the Boston College Eagles in Week 3 and were forced into double overtime by Vanderbilt in Week 4.
The Tigers' flaws were evident earlier in the season, but they were exposed even more in College Station.
Saturday's loss will likely drop Mizzou outside of the Top 15 and it now makes its October 26 clash with Alabama important from the Tigers' perspective.
Mizzou's remaining schedule is weak, so it may need a win over Bama to get into the 12-team playoff field depending on how things shake out across the country.
Michigan, USC Suffer Second Losses, Playoff Fates in Doubt
4 of 5
The field of Big Ten playoff contenders was thinned by two in Week 6.
The Michigan Wolverines and USC Trojans each suffered road losses, giving each team two losses already on the season.
Michigan fell short against the Washington Huskies in a rematch of last season's National Championship Game.
The Wolverines now have defeats to Texas and Washington on their resume and they still have four Top 25 opponents left on their schedule. They visit the Illinois Fighting Illini in two weeks to start a stretch of four ranked foes in the final six games.
USC was upset by the Minnesota Golden Gophers in their second-ever Big Ten road game. The Trojans lost the first conference road contest to Michigan.
The Trojans do not have much time to rebound since they host the Penn State Nittany Lions next week.
A potential three-loss USC team would have a favorable schedule in front of it for the rest of the season, but that might not be enough to push back into the playoff conversation.
At the moment, Penn State, Ohio State and Oregon are the Big Ten's true playoff contenders. Ohio State and Oregon face off in Eugene next Saturday.
Tennessee's Stunning Loss Hurts Its Playoff Profile
5 of 5
Tennessee's showdowns with Alabama and Georgia took on even more significance after Saturday's loss to Arkansas.
The Vols probably need to go 1-1 in those two games on October 19 and November 16 to feel comfortable about their position within the 12-team playoff.
Those are the only two opportunities the Vols have left in the regular season to pick up marquee wins and erase the memory of Saturday's defeat to Arkansas.
If there's any good news for the Vols, it's that the bottom fell out on two Big Ten contenders on Saturday and Missouri and Ole Miss look more vulnerable inside the SEC.
A two-loss Tennessee with a win over UGA or Alabama will get into the playoff, but if the Vols lose both of their games, they will have a much more stressful wait to see if they get into the field.
