NFL Draft 2025 Rumors: Execs Grade 'Less Than 10 Consensus 1st-Rounders Right Now'
Several league executives aren't convinced about the depth of the projected first round in the 2025 NFL draft.
Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy reported on Monday that there are "less than 10 consensus first-rounders right now" after conversations with four executives. He added that they believe there are an "unusually small number" of surefire first-round picks.

There's also some uncertainty surrounding the top of the potential draft order, as there isn't a clear-cut No. 1 quarterback with the 2024 college football season beginning. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski discussed the lack of a consensus top player in the most recent top-10 mock draft from B/R's NFL Scouting Department.
"Colorado's Travis Hunter is arguably the best pure talent, even though he doesn't have a clear position, and neither of his positions—cornerback and wide receiver—are usually considered for the slot," Sobleski wrote. "Another quarterback could very well take the spot, but none are currently viewed as slam-dunk options. No edge-rusher presents a complete package, either."
Teams focused on selecting quarterbacks near the top of the 2024 draft, as six signal-callers were taken within the first 12 picks. Given the reported smaller number of consensus first-round prospects in 2025, it may be more difficult for front offices to add a passer.
A lack of high-end talent could also cause teams to be more willing to move up in the first round in order to select prospects that can make an instant impact. There were five trades on Day 1 of the 2024 NFL draft, and that number could rise even further.
With roughly seven months until the 2025 draft, more players could establish themselves as possible first-round choices before the end of the 2024 college season.
