Schefter: Commanders Were 'Pretty Insulted' by Taylor-Britt's Comments on Offense
The Washington Commanders are not taking criticism of their offense in stride.
The Commanders offense steered the team to a 38-33 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night to improve the team's record to 2-1. This came after the Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt had called the unit a "college offense," and it appears the team got some motivation from that.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN's Adam Schefter said Taylor-Britt's comments did not sit well with Washington and the team aimed to make him regret it.

"They were a little bit worked up about the fact that they have been called a simple offense," Schefter said. "I was told that they were pretty insulted by that whole thing and that it became a real point for them of, 'Okay, you want to see a simple offense? We will give you a simple offense.'"
The Commanders produced 356 yards of total offense and notably did not punt in the game. The unit possessed the ball for 33:06 and was 3-of-3 in the red zone.
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was excellent, going 21-of-23 for 254 yards and two touchdowns while adding 39 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries on the ground. Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson each scored a rushing touchdown as well while Terry McLaurin and Trent Scott had the receiving touchdowns.
Monday was the third game for Daniels and Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and the offense has improved in each game. After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, the Commanders took a 21-18 victory over the New York Giants after six field goals from Austin Seibert and then had the offensive explosion against the Bengals.
Daniels has not thrown an interception and has posted an 80.3 completion percentage through the first three games. While the 2024 No. 2 pick should see some adversity this season, the offensive scheme has allowed him to make an early impact on a team that currently sits in a tie for first place in the NFC East.
The Commanders will look to build on this start in Week 3 when they face the Arizona Cardinals.
