Report: Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid Rank as Highest-Paid Players Per Game in NBA History
Former teammates Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid rank among the highest-paid players per game in NBA history.
The Brooklyn Nets forward and Philadelphia 76ers center stand on top of the list, as they've both signed large long-term contracts and have been hampered by injuries throughout the duration of each deal.
Here are the 10 highest-paid players on a per-game basis, via HoopsHype.
- Ben Simmons: $446,791
- Joel Embiid: $437,598
- Zion Williamson: $425,415
- John Wall: $404,358
- Kristaps Porziņģis: $371,645
- Lonzo Ball: $365,382
- Markelle Fultz: $351,004
- Jonathan Isaac: $343,430
- Bradley Beal: $338,229
- Anthony Davis: $337,062
Simmons is entering the final season of a five-year, $177.2 million contract that he signed as a member of the 76ers in 2019. The 28-year-old hasn't been able to replicate his success in Brooklyn after he was traded in Feb. 2022.
He has appeared in just 57 total games over the past two seasons, including a mere 15 appearances during his 2023-24 campaign due to a back injury. Simmons has averaged 6.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game as a member of the Nets.
As for Embiid, his health issues haven't affected his performance on the court so much as his overall availability. The seven-time All-Star is one of the top players in the NBA, winning the first MVP award of his career in 2023.
He appeared to be in contention for the award in back-to-back years, averaging a career-high 34.7 points per game last season. The 30-year-old ultimately wasn't eligible for the honor due to his 39 games played, though.
Injuries have been a concern for Embiid throughout his career, as he's never been able to suit up in at least 70 games during a season since he was drafted with the No. 3 overall pick in 2014.
He may be able to manage his health better in the 2024-25 season, as the 76ers can rely on Tyrese Maxey and nine-time All-Star Paul George to help run the team's offense.
