Dak Prescott Says Cowboys Will 'Learn' from Blowout Saints Loss in NFL Week 2

Andrew PetersSep 15, 2024

After a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is ready to learn from his and his team's mistakes and turn things around.

"We're gonna learn from it. That was a good team," Prescott said, per The Athletic's Jon Machota. "Gotta give them credit. This is the NFL. … It's about trusting the process and responding. I know we have the guys to do that. Honestly excited to get back to work and turn this page."

The Cowboys looked strong in their Week 1 win against the Cleveland Browns, but were exposed in Sunday's 44-19 loss to New Orleans.

It was a less-than-ideal performance from Prescott in just the second game following his signing of a historic four-year, $240 million contract.

While he had 293 passing yards and a touchdown, he also had two interceptions and a fumble. His Week 1 performance also didn't turn any heads as he picked up just 179 passing yards and a touchdown.

But Prescott and the offense are far from the only ones to blame for Sunday's loss. The Saints offense had their way with Dallas' defense as Derek Carr picked up 243 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns while running back Alvin Kamara rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second week in a row New Orleans dropped 40 or more points.

It's not time for the Cowboys to panic just yet, though. They'll have the chance to right the ship and get a big win against one of the top teams in the AFC when they face the Baltimore Ravens at home next week.

If there is ever a time to take a crushing loss at home, it's in Week 2 rather than in the playoffs, which the Cowboys have grown accustomed to over the last few seasons.
