Cowboys' Jerry Jones on Dak Prescott's Record $240M Contract: 'Well Deserved'
Dak Prescott's contract situation is finally resolved and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is relieved.
Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million deal with $231 million guaranteed with the Cowboys prior to the team's Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The deal will pay Prescott an averaged of $60 million per year, which is the highest in NFL history.
Jones said the three-time Pro Bowler earned this figure and that he has high hopes for how he can produce.

"The bottom line is that it's well deserved." Jones said, per Sam Gannon of KDFW. "What really counts though is these next five years and I am excited with Dak as out quarterback."
When Jones confirmed Prescott's new salary, he also noted that he hopes Prescott remains with the franchise for the remainder of the 81-year-old's time.
Prescott is entering the ninth season of his career and has compiled an overall record of 73-41 while leading the franchise to five playoff appearances. He has amassed 29,459 yards and 202 touchdowns in his career.
In 2023, he threw for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and just nine interceptions while leading Dallas to a 12-5 record and a NFC East title. He could have been highly sought after in free agency following the 2024 season but now will be with the Cowboys through at least 2028.
The Cowboys open up the 2024 NFL season against the Cleveland Browns and Dak will hope to show strong early returns on the deal.
