Lamar Jackson, Ravens vs. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs 2024 NFL Opener Delayed by Storms
The official start of the 2024 NFL season will have to wait at least 20 minutes later than originally scheduled.
Thursday's season-opener between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs was delayed until 8:40 p.m. ET due to inclement weather in the area, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
About an hour before the originally scheduled kickoff time, ESPN's Jamison Hensley posted a video on X detailing just how hard the rain was coming down at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Shortly after the hard downpours, the weather started to clear up, meaning the 20-minute delay could be the only one for the night.
Thursday's game will be a rematch of the AFC Championship game, where the Chiefs beat the Ravens 17-10 to advance to the Super Bowl, ultimately beating the San Francisco 49ers to win a second straight Super Bowl.
While Kansas City ultimately got the best of Baltimore last year, the Ravens reloaded this offseason, adding a major addition in star running back Derrick Henry. The former Tennessee Titan will make his debut on Thursday.
As was the case last season, both the Chiefs and the Ravens are expected to be two of the top teams in the AFC, making Thursday's season-opener an exciting start to the NFL season.
