Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete 2024 PPR Player Rankings Entering Week 1
Are you ready for some football?
I just came up with that.
OK, I really didn't. Please don't sue me.
After another long, dark fantasy offseason, it's almost time for another season to kick off. The draft has taken place (Except for a few stragglers who waited until the last possible minute. I respect that.) Teams are assembled. Now it's a matter of settling in, setting lineups and preparing to kick some derriere.
Normally, Week 1 is about as easy as it gets in that regard. You start the players you drafted early. But in 2024, fantasy managers have been thrown a bit of a curveball. There are some big names heading into the season banged up. More than one high-end wide receiver either just recently ended a holdout or is still looking for a truck full of cheese. Some fantasy stalwarts could either miss Week 1 or at the very least be limited.
All we can do is play the hand we're dealt. And here at Bleacher Report, we're as dedicated as ever to making sure you put the right cards on the table in Week 1.
So, as we wait for the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs to open the 2024 season Thursday night, here's a look at position-by-position PPR rankings for Week 1, including the top 100 players overall.
Quarterbacks
1 of 6
Week 1 at the quarterback position is all about new faces, or in some cases, old faces in new places.
On Sunday, three rookie quarterbacks will make their first career starts. First overall pick Caleb Williams will make his NFL debut at home against the Tennessee Titans. Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders will travel to Tampa to face the Buccaneers. And Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos will head back to the Pacific Northwest to battle the Seahawks in Seattle.
Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins is slated to make his first start as a member of the Atlanta Falcons at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will roll out Russell Wilson under center for the first time. And while he has technically already made one start for New York, Jets fans are no doubt hopeful that Aaron Rodgers will make it more than one series into the season opener this time.
From a fantasy perspective, this isn't a week to get cute. You drafted a quarterback to be your starter for a reason. Start them.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Jared Goff, DET (vs. LAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300]
This game has just about everything a Jared Goff manager could want in a matchup. There's the revenge factor against a Rams team that traded him (and two first-rounders) for Matthew Stafford. A raucous home crowd in Motown. And a Los Angeles defense that was a top-five matchup in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks last season.
Jordan Love, GB (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]
This game is actually about 4,700 miles from Philadelphia in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Eagles made major changes to the secondary in the offseason. But Philadelphia was 31st in the NFL in pass defense a year ago, and no team allowed more fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2023 than the Eagles.
BAD MATCHUPS
Dak Prescott, DAL (at CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100]
Prescott was third in passing yards and fantasy points among quarterbacks in 2023 and led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes. But wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has only just now re-joined the Cowboys after a long contract dispute, and the Browns led the NFL in fewest passing yards allowed per game in 2023.
Brock Purdy, SF (vs. NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200]
Purdy was quietly a solid fantasy starter last season, finishing sixth in fantasy points at the quarterback position. But like Dak Prescott, Purdy was without his No. 1 receiver for most of the training camp and preseason, and the Jets were no joke against the pass last year, allowing the third-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks.
SLEEPER
Baker Mayfield, TB (vs. WAS) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600]
Mayfield didn't just lead the Buccaneers to the playoffs last year—he also snuck his way into the back end of QB1 territory in 12-team fantasy leagues. That season earned Mayfield a fat raise, and now he will open the season at home against the NFL's worst pass defense from a year ago. Only the Eagles gave up more fantasy points to quarterbacks a year ago.

Running Backs
2 of 6
For the most part, the Week 1 fantasy rankings look quite a bit like the seasonlong rankings. There's good reason for that. Players were ranked where they were ranked for a reason. And while we think we have some idea of which teams will be stout (and soft) against the run, the reality is there will be matchups that surprise us once we have a few weeks of data to go off of.
There is, however, one major difference at running back—one this analyst is sure to hear about in the comments and/or on social media. Raheem Mostert of the Miami Dolphins is ranked 15th at his position, just a few slots ahead of teammate De'Von Achane.
Yes, there is no shortage of fantasy managers and pundits who expect Achane to receive a much larger share of the backfield workload and explode into fantasy stardom in 2024. Perhaps that will come to pass.
But right now, Mostert is healthy. He remains the No. 1 running back on Miami's depth chart, and it's a good bet he'll see the goal-line work Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
If you grabbed Mostert in the middle rounds of your draft, he's a viable fantasy RB2 until we see differently, and that's the theme of Week 1.
Don't fall prey to speculation and guesses and leave points on the bench as result.
GOOD MATCHUPS
James Cook, BUF (vs. ARI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,900]
Again, making fantasy decisions based on last year's stats can be tricky. A lot can change on a defense from one year to the next. But Cook is a good bet for a heavy workload in Week 1 against an Arizona Cardinals defense that was the only team in the NFL that surrendered over 140 yards per game on the ground in 2023.
Kenneth Walker III, SEA (vs. DEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]
The Denver defense struggled against the run last season, allowing an AFC-high 137.1 yards per game on the ground and giving up more PPR points to running backs than any team save the aforementioned Cardinals. Not only should Walker have a solid game Sunday, but Zach Charbonnet could also have some "flex" appeal.
BAD MATCHUPS
Zack Moss, CIN (vs. NE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,800]
My feelings on Moss have steadily soured as we moved through a summer in which he was out-played by second-year pro Chase Brown. Yes, the Bengals will likely be playing from ahead in Week 1, but as bad as the Pats were a season ago, they weren't easy to run on. No team in the AFC allowed fewer yards per game on the ground.
Tony Pollard, TEN (at CHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]
The Tennessee backfield is one of the muddier ones in the NFL entering the 2024 season. The workload split between Pollard and youngster Tyjae Spears could fluctuate considerably based on game script and matchup. But neither back is an especially appealing play against a Bears defense that allowed a league-low 86.4 yards per game on the ground in 2023.
SLEEPER
Antonio Gibson, NE (at CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
The Cincinnati Bengals were 26th in the NFL against the run last year, giving up just over 126 yards per game. Whether Rhamondre Stevenson can get going is probably a matter of whether the Patriots can stay in this game. But if the Pats do fall off the pace, Gibson could rack up garbage-time dump-offs from Jacoby Brissett in the second half.

Wide Receivers
3 of 6
The wide receiver position in Week 1 is a bit weird. There are a number of players ranked as low this week as you will likely see them all season long.
For some, it's due to injury. Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams and DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans have both missed considerable time with knee injuries, and while there is optimism they will be able to play in their respective openers, we may not know until Friday how good their chances really are of suiting up.
Then there are all the holdouts (or hold-ins, whatever). CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys and Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers got their bags of cash, but both missed a lot of practice and preseason reps. Lamb wasn't even at the facility until a week or so ago. Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals still doesn't have his contract, and if a deal isn't done by Sunday there's a real chance he doesn't play against the New England Patriots.
This is a week where fantasy managers are going to need to stay up-to-date on player news—and have a Plan B at the ready.
Delightful way to start the year, ain't it?
GOOD MATCHUPS
Mike Evans, TB (vs. WAS) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,300]
The Commanders were a terrible defensive football team last year—dead last in the league in total defense and pass defense and second in PPR points allowed to wide receivers. The Commanders should be better defensively under Dan Quinn if only because they can't get worse, but Evans (and Chris Godwin) could both be set for big openers.
Cooper Kupp, LAR (at DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100]
Like the Philadelphia Eagles, the Lions were aggressive in the offseason attempting to upgrade a pass defense that was a clear weakness a year ago. But the Lions were a juicy matchup for opposing wideouts last season, and if Nacua's knee injury forces him to sit, Kupp would be targeted approximately all the times ever.
BAD MATCHUPS
Brandon Aiyuk, SF (vs. NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,800]
This isn't what Aiyuk's fantasy managers want to see after he finally signed with the 49ers. But while Aiyuk was at least around the facility there is going to be rust to knock off, and his first game of 2024 is against Sauce Gardner and a New York Jets secondary that surrendered the fewest PPR points to wide receivers in 2023.
CeeDee Lamb, DAL (at CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $8,900]
You can't really sit Lamb—the dude was the top overall pick in more than a few drafts over the summer. But last year's only 400-point wide receiver in PPR scoring systems doesn't just have to shake off the rust. He also has to contend with a Browns defense that may well feature the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL.
SLEEPER
Christian Watson, GB (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,700]
The Eagles should be better on the back end in 2024 after spending their first two picks in this year's draft on cornerbacks, and Green Bay's depth at wide receiver is going to make the team's wideouts a fantasy headache at times. But we've seen what Watson can be capable of when healthy, and the Packers' best chance at success offensively in Brazil lies with throwing the ball.
WEEK 1 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

Tight Ends
4 of 6
Fantasy managers essentially had two choices in 2024. They could either invest in one of the top 7-8 reasonably reliable weekly starters or punt the position and hope to find value later on.
If you chose Door No. 1, your course is essentially set. You are counting on Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs to have at least one more big season left. Or looking to Dalton Kincaid of the Buffalo Bills or Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals to take the next step and cement themselves as the next elite fantasy producer at the position.
If you held off, all is not lost though. Brock Bowers has Michael Mayer to contend with in Las Vegas, but he's the most highly regarded tight end prospect since Kyle Pitts. Players like Pat Freiermuth of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Luke Musgrave of the Green Bay Packers have shown potential—now they just need the targets.
It's going to be quite an interesting season at the position, largely because for the first time in a long time, there isn't one player towering over all others.
The unquestioned reign of King Travis has ended.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Evan Engram, JAX (at MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500]
There appears to be a fair amount of skepticism as to whether Engram can back up last year's career season that included 116 receptions and a second-place finish in PPR points. But in the opener, he draws a Dolphins defense that was a favorable matchup for tight ends last year in a game the Jaguars will likely be throwing the ball quite a bit.
Dallas Goedert, PHI (vs. GB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,800]
Goedert has been nursing an oblique injury, but it appears that the 29-year-old is on track to suit up against the Packers in Sao Paolo. Consistent targets may be an issue for Goedert as we move through the season, but Friday's opener sets up well. The Packers were an above-average fantasy matchup for tight ends last season.
BAD MATCHUPS
Mark Andrews, BAL (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,000]
Both Andrews and Isaiah Likely could wind up top-12 fantasy tight ends this year in a Ravens offense that will likely use a lot of "12" personnel. But the Chiefs surrendered the fourth-fewest PPR points to tight ends last season, and in last year's AFC title loss to Kansas City, Andrews managed just two catches for 15 yards.
David Njoku, Cleveland (vs. DAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600]
This analyst has serious misgivings about Njoku's ability to approach last year's career season given how much of his production came with Joe Flacco under center. It doesn't help that Njoku opens the 2024 campaign against a Dallas defense that was stingy to opposing tight ends—25th in PPR points given up to the position.
SLEEPER
Hunter Henry, NE (at CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,200]
The thought of waiting an entire offseason to set a lineup and then slot Hunter Henry as your starting tight end is probably about as appealing as a colonoscopy. But the Patriots are apt to be playing catch-up against a significantly better Bengals team, and Cincy gave up the third-most PPR points to tight ends in 2023.
WEEK 1 TIGHT END RANKINGS
1. Travis Kelce, KC (vs. BAL)
2. Sam LaPorta, DET (vs. LAR)
3. Dalton Kincaid, BUF (vs. ARI)
4. Evan Engram, JAX (at MIA)
5. Trey McBride, ARI (at BUF)
6. Mark Andrews, BAL (at KC)
7. Kyle Pitts, ATL (vs. PIT)
8. George Kittle, SF (vs. NYJ)

Kickers and Defenses
5 of 6
Week 1 is a shining example of why smart fantasy managers stream their team defenses. They draft a middling defense with a favorable matchup late, then when that team's string of juicy matchups dries up, they cut them loose for another such defense on the waiver wire.
Are the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens excellent defensive football teams? Absolutely. But the Ravens open the season in Kansas City against a Chiefs team that looks the part of an offensive buzzsaw after upgrading their wide receivers. The 49ers draw the New York Jets, who should be an exponentially poorer matchup than in years past if Aaron Rodgers stays healthy.
Rodgers just doesn't throw interceptions—at least not with regularity.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals (the AFC's worst defense in terms of yards allowed last year) gets to host a New England Patriots team that was tied for dead last in the league in scoring in 2023. The team they tied (the 2-15 Carolina Panthers) will be in New Orleans taking on the Saints.
You can build a "Frankendefense" that will score like an elite unit for a fraction of the price.
File that away for 2025.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Cairo Santos, CHI (vs. TEN)
The Chicago Bears are expected to be lightyears better offensively this year after adding wide receivers Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen, running back D'Andre Swift and quarterback Caleb Williams. No team in the league allowed more fantasy points to kickers last year than the Titans. Can't argue with math.
Cincinnati Bengals Defense/Special Teams (vs. NE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800]
Yes, the Bengals allowed a ton of yards last season. But the team has an edge-rusher in Trey Hendrickson who had 17.5 sacks last year, the Bengals have upgraded the secondary and the Patriots are arguably the most talent-deficient offense in the NFL led by a career backup in Jacoby Brissett.
BAD MATCHUPS
Justin Tucker, BAL (at KC)
You can't sit Tucker, of course. He was the first kicker drafted in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. But Thursday night's season opener against a Chiefs team that allowed the fewest fantasy points to kickers in 2023 is a lousy matchup—Tucker had one extra point and a field goal against them in the AFC Championship Game.
Baltimore Ravens (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,700]
This may well be the lowest that the Ravens are priced at DraftKings all season long. To Baltimore's credit, the Ravens held the Chiefs to just 17 points in that AFC title tilt. But that game was in Baltimore against a Kansas City team with one viable wide receiver. This year's iteration of the Fighting Swifties will likely be quite a bit more potent offensively.
SLEEPER
Tennessee Titans Defense/Special Teams (at CHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,800]
Yes, there's a boatload of hype surrounding Caleb Williams and the re-tooled Bears offense in 2024. But we're still talking about a rookie quarterback making his first career start, and the Titans aren't without talent on defense, whether it's edge-rusher Harold Landry and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons or the newly-acquired L'Jarius Sneed at cornerback.

Top 100 Overall/"Flex" Rankings
6 of 6
Before we get to the Week 1 edition of the top 100 players overall for PPR leagues in Week 1 (a list that can aid in making "flex" lineup calls), the weekly notes that I know you all live for.
You're welcome.
The first is the same it always is—there are no quarterbacks included in this list. If you are playing in a league with a "superflex" spot, then odds are good you want a quarterback in said spot. They score more points in many formats and are generally more consistent. Around QB25 (Russell Wilson of the Steelers) is where this guy would probably start thinking about going another direction.
The second note is a simple one—it's Week 1. Don't overthink things. Injuries are of course a consideration, and if it sounds like a player could be severely limited or on a greatly reduced snap count (say because he's barely practiced all summer), then fantasy managers face a tough call off the jump.
Otherwise, you drafted the starters you drafted for a reason. So...um...start them.
There will be plenty of time to drive yourself bananas with lineup decisions as we move deeper into the season.
Take a breath. We got a long way to go.
