Colorado's Travis Hunter Reflects on His 'Last 1st Game of College Football' vs. NDSU
Travis Hunter may have tipped his hand when it comes to his collegiate future beyond 2024.
The Colorado Buffaloes two-way standout reflected on his team's upcoming season opener against North Dakota State in the latest Well Off Media vlog. In the video, he noted that it was sentimental because it would be his final season opener of his college career.
"Last first game of college," Hunter said (9:30 in video). "I feel good but it hasn't hit me yet. Still, it's the last first game but, of course, we have got 12 more."
Considering that Hunter would have one more year of eligibility remaining in 2025, this pretty much serves as a hint that he will declare for the NFL Draft following the 2024 season.
This is not necessarily surprising, as even Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders had said that Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be in the 2025 Draft and will even try to influence which franchise they go to. Still, Hunter's acknowledgment of it shows that he is also committed to that timeline.
He is entering his second year with the Buffaloes after being named an All-American in 2023. He made 57 catches for 721 yards and five touchdowns on offense while also adding 30 tackles, five pass deflections and three interceptions on defense.
He will look to help Colorado improve from its 4-8 record in 2023 before finding out where he will begin his NFL career next spring.
