NFL Rumors: Randy Gregory to Be Released By Bucs After Signing Free-Agent Contract
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly come to an agreement with linebacker Randy Gregory and plan to release him, per the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.
Gregory filed a lawsuit against the NFL and his former team, the Denver Broncos, over alleged discrimination in June and has not reported to training camp and has missed two preseason games.
Gregory was fined $532,500 for his use of the drug dronabinol, which contains THC, for disabilities during his two years with the Broncos. In the lawsuit, he said he was prescribed the drug for social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorders but the NFL denied accommodations to use the drug.

Gregory claimed in the complaint that Denver and the NFL did not allow him to use the drug during non-work hours and later denied his request for therapeutic use exemption. While the league no longer suspends players for the use of THC, it is still on the list of banned substances, which are subject to fines.
The sixth-year veteran will now look to get picked up in free agency before the start of the season. He spent the first part of the 2023 season with the Broncos before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he helped the team reach the Super Bowl.
Gregory had 20 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and a pass deflection on the year.
