49ers Rumors: Brandon Aiyuk Contract Close, WR Wants 4th Year of Offer Adjusted
The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk are reportedly close to reaching an agreement on a long-term contract extension.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo revealed that Aiyuk and the 49ers have agreed on the first three years of a possible extension, although the receiver wants the team to make an adjustment to the non-guaranteed fourth year of the deal (h/t Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area).
Garafolo previously reported on Tuesday that both sides "aren't that far apart" on a new contract.

He added that the 49ers and Aiyuk had one more point in negotiations that needed to be "ironed out" before the contract could be signed, and it appears that progress has been impeded by the final non-guaranteed year of the proposed deal.
Aiyuk has been reporting to training camp in San Francisco, although he hasn't been participating in practice with his teammates due to the lack of a long-term extension. He's currently set to earn $14.1 million in the final year of his rookie contract.
The 49ers have discussed trades with opposing teams, although Aiyuk rejected a move to the New England Patriots. He also passed on a trade to the Cleveland Browns, which would have sent Amari Cooper to San Francisco (via NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco).
While the front office has entered trade negotiations with several teams, 49ers general manager John Lynch also expressed interest in retaining Aiyuk on Friday.
"I'm always hopeful. I'm an optimistic person [by] nature, and so I'm always hopeful that we get there and get there soon," Lynch said during an appearance on KNBR's Murph and Markus (h/t ESPN's Nick Wagoner). "I can tell you we feel the urgency to have him. The season is approaching."
As San Francisco's Week 1 clash with the New York Jets on Sept. 8 gets closer, it seems as though Aiyuk and the front office are nearing the end of contract discussions.
