An upcoming documentary spotlighting the impact of the NIL era at LSU will feature interviews with a number of current and former Tigers stars.

Prime Video released a trailer for The Money Game on Thursday. Gymnast Livvy Dunne, basketball players Angel Reese and Flau'jae Johnson and football player Jayden Daniels are among the athletes profiled across the 2023-24 academic year.

Sportico's Daniel Libit reported in February that LSU received $1 million for the documentary from its producers, Campfire Film & TV. Athletes who took part got NIL contributions as well.

"The unique access and rights arrangement between LSU and Campfire is at the vanguard of what will undoubtedly be many more deals between production companies and schools for behind-the-scenes shows about college athletes capitalizing on their rights of publicity," Libit wrote.

Once college athletes were permitted to cash in on their name, image and likeness, an arms race at the highest levels was inevitable. Building a strong NIL collective was imperative, and schools needed to ensure athletes had resources to expand their personal brands.

Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein wrote last September how LSU has been at the foreground in women's sports in particular. Dunne and Johnson rank second and 13th respectively in On3's NIL projections, while Reese built a massive following during her two years in Baton Rouge.

The Money Game will certainly serve as a great advertisement for LSU athletics. It should also provide some added insight for how navigating the new normal in college sports is more difficult than many fans realize.
