Yankees' Gerrit Cole Has 'General Body Fatigue,' Won't Make Start vs. Phillies
The New York Yankees scratched Gerrit Cole from his scheduled start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night due to general body fatigue, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
Will Warren will pick up the start in his place.
It's been a tough season for Cole, who missed the first 2.5 months of the 2024 campaign due to right elbow discomfort.

Cole told reporters Tuesday that he was feeling "run down" and found it "hard to bounce back" from his last start against the New York Mets after giving up six runs and three homers in the 12-3 loss.
"I'm frustrated—frustrated sitting in the emotions of this loss," he told reporters after that dud. "But our job is to flush it and not let the play of the last six weeks affect the way we prepare for the next game."
He added Tuesday that he wasn't dealing with any elbow issues, though he doesn't expect to pitch tomorrow and instead plans to hopefully return for the team's next series against the Toronto Blue Jays, using this break to put some "gas in the tank."
Manager Aaron Boone later told reporters Cole has been dealing with a stomach virus for several days.
Since his return, the 33-year-old has struggled, going 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 35 innings. The Yankees in general have struggled in the pitching department of late, with a team ERA of 5.26 in June and 4.26 in July.
Thus far ahead of the trade deadline, New York has improved its lineup by adding Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the bullpen with Mark Leiter Jr., and it wouldn't be shocking to see the team add another option to the rotation as well.
Getting Cole back to his Cy Young levels would be a major help, however.
As for Warren, the rookie is 5-5 at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season with a 6.11 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 95.2 innings (20 starts). He'll face a dangerous Phillies lineup on Tuesday.
