Mariners' Julio Rodríguez to Undergo MRI on Quad After Suffering Injury vs. Blue Jays
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez will undergo an MRI on his quad after suffering an injury against the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday night, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
After the Mariners' 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays, Seattle manager Scott Servais said that Rodríguez reported some discomfort in his quad before the game. After showing visible signs of pain in the first inning in center field, Rodríguez exited the game.
"I'm hoping it's nothing too serious. Day game tomorrow, would love to have him in there, but we'll see. We have an off day after that," Servais said.

Rodríguez, in his third season in the majors, has eight home runs, 30 RBI and a .247 batting average so far this season. The 23-year-old leads Seattle in hits (87), runs (40) and stolen bases (18).
In his first two seasons with the Mariners, he has recorded batting averages north of .275 and had a career-high 32 homers last year.
Recently, Rodríguez has dealt with a handful of varying injuries. He fouled a pitch off of his left knee against the Blue Jays on Friday and jammed his right thumb while trying to make a catch against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
His upcoming MRI will reveal the severity of Saturday's injury, but he and the Mariners both hope it won't keep him off the diamond for very long.
The Mariners have lost 11 of their last 16 games, but still sit atop the AL West at 49-42. The surging Houstons Astros have cut the distance between them and Seattle to just a few games though, so the Mariners will need to get things turned around soon to help their chances of winning their division.
Getting Rodríguez back on the field soon would certainly be crucial to that quest.
