Fantasy Booking Bron Breakker's Path to the WWE Raw Main Event Scene

Graham GSM MatthewsJun 18, 2024

As WWE settles into its newest era, creating new stars should be considered a top priority, with Bron Breakker leading the list of promising up-and-comers the company should be building around.

Following a dominant stint in NXT, Breakker finally made his main roster debut at the onset of 2024 as a member of the SmackDown brand. He was later drafted to Raw and has embarked on a path of destruction due to his exclusion from the King of the Ring tournament by general manager Adam Pearce.

Pro wrestling insider WrestleVotes reported on June 6 that WWE was "considerably altering" creative plans for the two-time NXT champion after impressing higher-ups and that he was slated to be a "major focus" once Raw arrives on Netflix in January 2025.

The second-generation star took a significant step up the card on the June 10 episode when he bested Ilja Dragunov in a hard-fought outing and demolished Ricochet backstage in what was believed to be The One and Only's on-screen sendoff.

Breakker possesses all the tools necessary to be a big-time player in WWE, and if his meteoric rise is executed properly, he could be holding world championship gold sooner rather than later.

A Strong Showing in Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

1 of 4

Breakker's aggressive push makes him a front-runner to become Mr. Money in the Bank this year.

The field for the bout started to take shape on Monday's Raw with Jey Uso advancing, and although Breakker wasn't involved in a qualifier, it's safe to assume he soon will be. From a storyline standpoint, it would be egregious for Raw GM Adam Pearce to make the same mistake twice by again overlooking him.

His participation in the MITB ladder match doesn't mean he needs to win it, though. A strong showing would go a long way in furthering his momentum and making him look like a force to be reckoned with.

The opportunistic briefcase would be the quickest way to catapult Breakker to main event glory, but it doesn't fit his current character. He's better suited squashing his opponents and obliterating them face-to-face than taking advantage of a downed champion.

Furthermore, the 26-year-old isn't ready to be challenging for a world title quite yet. He wouldn't have to cash in anytime soon if he won it, but he'd benefit from taking the long-term approach and gradually his working his way up the card.

WWE shouldn't run the risk of putting him in a position he may not be prepared for.

Defeating Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship

2 of 4

Before he sets his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship, Breakker should first enter contention for the intercontinental title. As seen on Monday's Raw, this step is already underway.

Coming out of Clash at the Castle, Sami Zayn is still in possession of the prestigious prize. Breakker confronted him and demanded a shot at the title before being interrupted by Sheamus.

Their bout didn't have a decisive finish, but all roads should lead to Zayn defending against Breakker.

Prior to Raw, the two hadn't crossed paths in any capacity but would surely have terrific in-ring chemistry together. Zayn excels as the ultimate underdog and Breakker is at his best when he's working against smaller opponents (as he has been with Ilja Dragunov and Ricochet recently).

Breakker bypassed the midcard while in the gold brand and immediately went after the NXT Championship, but the intercontinental title picture is where he belongs for the foreseeable future.

A win over a star as established, experienced and beloved as Zayn would be another nice endorsement of Breakker and further cement him as a hated heel, simultaneously freeing up Zayn to return to the main event scene.

Feuds with Sheamus and Seth Rollins

3 of 4

Once he clinches the Intercontinental Championship, Breakker can continue to rack up wins over some of Raw's most notable names, specifically Sheamus and Seth Rollins.

The Celtic Warrior is at a point in his illustrious career where he is being utilized to elevate others. He's done an effective job of that as of late with Ludwig Kaiser, and Breakker should be no exception.

Kaiser's interference caused the contest between Breakker and Sheamus on Monday's Raw to be thrown out, so they still have unfinished business together. That should be Breakker's first feud after becoming champ.

From there, a rivalry with Seth Rollins would be a natural next step in his progression.

The Visionary returned for the first time since WrestleMania 40 on Monday and challenged Damian Priest to a match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank.

He's one of the top babyfaces on the red brand and needs fresh heels to work with in the latter half of 2024, such as Breakker.

They previously went one-on-one in a world heavyweight title match on NXT in May 2023 and Rollins emerged victorious, so Breakker should be looking to avenge that loss.

Winning World Heavyweight Championship by SummerSlam 2025

4 of 4

Breakker could be considered a dark horse for the 2025 men's Royal Rumble match, but if Gunther wins the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam this year, he's virtually guaranteed to hold it through WrestleMania 41 at the earliest.

Both Breakker and Gunther are heels at the moment and a babyface turn shouldn't be on the horizon for either of them, so a 'Mania match between them wouldn't work unless Breakker reigned supreme in the Rumble and choose to challenge for SmackDown's top title instead.

Regardless of whether he's still intercontinental champion by WrestleMania, Breakker belongs in a high-profile matchup on the card. There's any number of opponents he could have (including the aforementioned Seth Rollins rivalry), but the grander goal should be grooming him for the world title picture by SummerSlam season.

At that point, if everything plays out accordingly, he should be ready for a run in the main event scene. Breakker is a bona fide future world heavyweight champion, but it's imperative WWE nails his ascent to ensure he lives up to his full potential.
