Knicks' Ideal 2024 NBA Mock Draft
The New York Knicks assembled one of the NBA's deepest rosters over the course of the 2023-24 campaign.
They now need to decide whether they have too much depth to keep the three picks they holds in the upcoming draft (Nos. 24, 25 and 38).
It's entirely possible this front office will move one (or more) for either an established contributor or perhaps future draft assets. If the Knicks wind up making all three picks, though, their haul would be a dream it featured the following three prospects.
24. Ryan Dunn, PF, Virginia
1 of 3
The Knicks transformed their season when they acquired a big, physical defender in OG Anunoby.
Maybe they could double-down on the role with their first pick of the draft.
Dunn could be the most disruptive defender in this draft. B/R's Jonathan Wasserman likened Dunn to defensive playmaker Matisse Thybulle while noting Dunn's "court coverage and play-disrupting around the basket could lead to some wild steal and block rates."
Dunn potentially offers five-position versatility on defense, plus he cleans the glass, plays within himself on offense and has enough bounce to finish at the rim. He should check enough boxes for the 'Bockers to let his limitations as a shooter slide.
25. Johnny Furphy, SF, Kansas
2 of 3
If the Knicks keep both of their first-round picks, they should throw a dart at upside with at least one of them.
Selecting Furphy in this spot would certainly qualify.
His lack of seasoning is impossible not to notice, but the same holds true of his potential as a 6'8" shooter and finisher. He is already a smart mover off the ball, which should allow him to fit with stars right away. He doesn't try to do too much, and he could hustle and defend his way into becoming a favorite of head coach Tom Thibodeau—over time, of course.
Furphy offers little self-creation, and he could have trouble keeping in front of quicker players, but those are limitations the Knicks should be able to live with in hopes of eventually maximizing his potential.
38. Adem Bona, C, UCLA
3 of 3
While this season's Knicks had a fully loaded center rotation, next season's squad might actually need interior reinforcements. All three of Isaiah Hartenstein (unrestricted free agent), Precious Achiuwa (restricted) and Jericho Sims (team option) have potential avenues leading them out of town.
And if New York heavily invests in any one, then it might look to move Mitchell Robinson in a trade.
Center, then, could be a position of need, and if it is, Bona could help address it.
He is long, bouncy and always fully charged, and it already feels easy to imagine him impacting the game as a rim-runner.
