Angel Reese Wows WNBA Fans with Double-Double as Sky Lose, Chennedy Carter Struggles

Joseph ZuckerJun 8, 2024

The Chicago Sky fell to 4-6 on the season following a 89-80 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Saturday at home inside Wintrust Arena, but it was another game in which fans were afforded a peak into a brighter future.

Angel Reese posted her third straight double-double, finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds and five steals in 33 minutes on the floor. Fellow first-round pick Kamilla Cardoso filled in for an injured Elizabeth Williams and made her first career start. Playing with a minutes restriction, she had 13 points and five boards.

Chennedy Carter had a day to forget on the heels of her 25-point outing against the Washington Mystics on Thursday. She shot 1-of-5 from the field for four points.

Reese fell to Chicago with the No. 7 overall pick in part due to concerns over her shooting and whether she could be a high-usage player without even a solid mid-range jumper. Maybe general managers overthought this one because her defense and rebounding have immediately translated in a noticeable way.

While plenty of fans were following the exploits of the young Sky stars, Tina Charles continued to remind people she's an eight-time All-Star and a WNBA legend. The 35-year-old feasted on the frontcourt tandem of Reese and Cardoso.

The Sky get a few days off before they're back in action against the Connecticut Sun, who continue to own the WNBA's best record (9-1) despite their loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday.

Although you don't like Chicago's odds in that one, it will be a great test for Reese and Cardoso.
