Chiefs' BJ Thompson Awake, Responsive 1 Day After Suffering Cardiac Arrest
Kansas City Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson is awake and responsive, his agent told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Thompson was hospitalized after suffering a seizure and going into cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting on Thursday, but Pelissero noted that his "prognosis is good."
Thompson's agent told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler following his hospitalization that doctors were "optimistic about his recovery." Fowler reported at the time that the 25-year-old was in stable condition.

The Chiefs postponed Thursday's practice following Thompson's medical emergency. The team returned to the field on Friday for the last day of OTAs and posted a message of well wishes for Thompson later in the afternoon:
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also praised the team's training staff for their quick response to the emergency.
"That's a tough situation. We've been through a couple of those before in my time and it's never, ever fun," Reid said, via Andrew Lynch and PJ Green of Fox4KC. "Thank goodness. I mean, if it had to happen, no better place than right here where you have a support unit that knows what to do."
Kansas City selected Thompson with a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft out of Stephen F. Austin. During his three seasons with the Lumberjacks, he tallied 79 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks.
Thompson appeared in only one game as a rookie last season and finished the year with two tackles. The Chiefs went on to win Super Bowl LVIII against the San Franciso 49ers, which was their second straight Super Bowl title. Kansas City is now attempting to achieve the first three-peat in NFL history this season.
Kansas City is scheduled to hold mandatory minicamp on June 11-13. The team will then be off for a few weeks for reconvening in July for training camp.
