Woj: OG Anunoby's Injury Status Upgraded to Questionable for Knicks-Pacers Game 7
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby has been upgraded to questionable for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
According to Wojnarowski, Anunoby is likely to go through pregame warmups to decide whether he can return to the lineup.
SNY's Ian Begley added there's "optimism" Anunoby will be able to return on Sunday:
Anunoby suffered a hamstring injury in Game 2 and has not been back on the court since. He is averaging 16.4 points per game and had 28 points in Game 2 before the injury.
Anunoby began his season with the Toronto Raptors and was traded to New York in December. He missed much of the second half of the season with an elbow injury but has been a valuable contributor for the Knicks, averaging 14.1 points and 1.7 steals per game since joining the team.
In the playoffs, he has been a workhorse for New York, playing 40 minutes per game and giving the Knicks a major boost on both sides of the ball.
Having Anunoby back on the floor would be crucial given New York's injury struggles this postseason.
The Knicks were already short-handed coming into the playoffs with Juliuis Randle having season-ending shoulder surgery in April. Small forward Bojan Bogdanović then underwent season-ending surgery at the end of April, just weeks before center Mitchell Robinson's season ended due to an ankle injury.
On Friday, New York took another injury hit with shooting guard Josh Hart suffering an abdominal strain, though he will reportedly try to play through it in Game 7. Hart has taken a major leap this postseason, putting up 14.9 points and a team-high 11.8 rebounds per game.
Despite all the injuries, the Knicks are just one win away from their first conference finals appearance since 2000. As New York looks to put Indiana away, it will rely heavily on star point guard Jalen Brunson, who has risen to the occasion in the playoffs.
