Christmas NFL Schedule 2024: Previewing Chiefs vs. Steelers and Ravens vs. Texans
The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens will feature on Christmas Day for the second straight NFL season.
Kansas City will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1 p.m. ET game on December 25. The Ravens visit the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET. Both games will be streamed on Netflix.
The pair of Wednesday afternoon contests will put three of the AFC's best quarterbacks on the national stage.
The battle between Lamar Jackson and C.J. Stroud in the second game will catch more headlines than Patrick Mahomes' showdown with whomever is the Pittsburgh quarterback in late December.
Both matchups should have some impact on the AFC playoff standings, whether it be in the divisional or wild-card races.
Chiefs vs. Steelers
1 of 2
The Chiefs opened as a four-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook for their Christmas Day trip to Pittsburgh.
The spread will probably be larger by the time December 25 rolls around based on the expectations of both franchises.
Kansas City is loading up for its three-peat quest, while Pittsburgh has some offensive question marks entering the 2024 season.
The Steelers will likely start Russell Wilson in Week 1, but they also have Justin Fields waiting on the bench if the former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback struggles like he did last season in Denver.
Wilson was held under 115 passing yards in both meetings with the Chiefs last season. He had four touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Kansas City experienced a rare AFC West slip-up on Christmas Day last season in a home loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chiefs will likely need a victory in the fight for AFC home-field advantage once again in 2024 given how close the AFC standings have been over the last few years.
Pittsburgh's best-case scenario is to be in the wild-card hunt by Christmas Day, but it would still likely be cast in the spoiler role.
The Steelers are 2-0 on Christmas Day under Mike Tomlin. They won on the holiday in 2016 and 2017.
Ravens vs. Texans
2 of 2
The Ravens and Texans will play for the third time in two seasons on Christmas Day in Houston.
Baltimore captured the Week 1 meeting at home in the 2023 regular season and then defeated the Texans at M&T Bank Stadium in the wild-card round.
The Ravens outscored the Texans 59-19 in those two contests. That should serve as motivation for Stroud and the Houston offense to shine in a matchup that could determine top-four seeding in the AFC.
Baltimore is slightly favored in the matchup because of its two victories last season, but the competition may be more level by December 25 if Stroud continues to improve in the pocket.
Baltimore and Houston are both favored to win their respective divisions and it would shock no one if they were in positions to clinch those divisions on Christmas Day.
The Ravens are 2-1 in their franchise history on Christmas Day, including the 33-19 win over the San Francisco 49ers last season. Houston is 0-1 on December 25.
