Caitlin Clark Picked as Player Teams Would Want to Sign Most in WNBA GM Survey
On the day of her WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark received high praise in a general manager survey released on Tuesday.
Asked to name the player they would want to sign today if they were starting a franchise, Clark received 50 percent of votes from the league's GMs.
Two-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson finished a close second with 42 percent of the vote, followed by Clark's teammate Aliyah Boston with eight percent.

Hailey Van Lith joins new team

Ex-Iowa star Kate Martin waived by WNBA team
Wilson is more than justified as the choice for those general managers who supported her. She has finished in the top 10 in MVP voting in each of her first six seasons, winning in 2020 and 2022.
The Las Vegas Aces superstar is only 27, has led the team to back-to-back titles and was named WNBA Finals MVP last year.
The combination of Clark's age and enormous potential made her an obvious choice in this category. She helped transform an Iowa program that was solid prior to her arrival into a national powerhouse, particularly for her final three seasons.
At just 22 years old, Clark has her entire professional career ahead of her. The same could also be said of Boston, who will play this season at the age of 22, was named an All-Star and won Rookie of the Year in her debut season last year.
Clark's ability as a scorer and playmaker should make her transition into the WNBA fairly smooth. She was critical of her performance after shooting just 4-of-12 in an 83-80 preseason win over the Atlanta Dream on May 9, yet she still finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Fever's young duo of Clark and Boston will get to show off their rapport when they take on the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
