Deion Sanders, Madden, ChiefsAholic & Dale Earnhardt Among Prime Video Shows Revealed
Prime Video announced Tuesday that four new sports-related documentaries are coming to the streaming service, and one of its most popular existing sports shows is being renewed for another season.
During a presentation at the Amazon upfront, it was revealed that the Prime Video platform will be home to a four-part docuseries on NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, a four-part series about the history of the Madden NFL video game franchise, a series highlighting the greatest Game 7s in sports history and a true-crime documentary chronicling Kansas City Chiefs fan turned bank robber ChiefsAholic.
Additionally, the Coach Prime docuseries starring University of Colorado head football coach and Hall of Fame NFL cornerback Deion Sanders was renewed for a third season.
Amazon also divulged that the previously announced documentary on tennis legend Roger Federer will premier June 20 and be entitled Federer: Twelve Final Days.
Coach Prime originally premiered on Prime Video in 2022 when Sanders was the head coach at FCS Jackson State.
The second season followed Sanders to Colorado, as he he brought his son and superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders with him, as well as two-way star Travis Hunter, who was the No. 1 recruit in the nation when he shockingly committed to Jackson State.
In all likelihood, Season 3 of Coach Prime will focus on Sanders' second season in Boulder and his attempt to improve upon the 4-8 record the Buffaloes posted in 2023.
The untitled Dale Earnhardt documentary will delve deep into the Earnhardt racing family, including Ralph Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Sr. is regarded as one of the greatest stock car drivers of all time, having won seven NASCAR Cup Series titles and 76 Cup Series races prior to his untimely death at the age of 49 as a result of injuries suffered during a crash in the 2001 Daytona 500.
The untitled Madden docuseries will tell the story of EA Sports' hugely successful video game franchise, including how it came to be and why it almost didn't happen.
There will undoubtedly also be a spotlight on late, legendary football coach John Madden, who lent his name to the franchise and helped make it one of the biggest video games of all time.
Game 7 will look at some of the greatest playoff series and Game 7s in the history of the NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball, including the 2016 World Series between Cleveland and the Chicago Cubs, and the 1994 Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks.
ChiefsAholic: A Wolf in Chief's Clothing will explore the bizarre tale of Chiefs superfan Xaviar Babudar, who dressed up as a wolf and became hugely popular on social media.
All the while, nobody knew that Babudar was funding his fandom and constant appearances at Chiefs games through a series of bank robberies.
Each of the four new series and Coach Prime are scheduled to premier and air exclusively on Prime Video.
