Westminster Dog Show 2024 Results: Best of Breed Winners and Monday Recap
The first night of the Westminster Kennel Club began Monday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens New York.
After an eventful day of deciding which dogs were the best in their breed, those who finished first competed in their individual categories. On Monday, the Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding groups were judged and decided.
On Tuesday, the Sporting, Working and Terrier groups will be judged and the Best in Show will be crowned.

There are still several dogs to be judged on Tuesday, but this year's Best in Show could be one of Monday's winners.
If Mercedes is given the crown, it would be the first time since 1987 that a German Shepherd has won Best-in-Show. Likewise, if Louis wins, it will be the first Best in Show win for an Afghan Hound this century.
But heading into the Best in Show judgment day, a favorite stands out among the group.
Comet comes into the Westminster Dog Show fresh off a Best in Show win at the American Kennel Club National Championship in December. The three-year-old was the first Shih Tzu to win Best in Show at the AKC National Championship and just the second from the Toy Group to win the crown at the competition.
With the momentum from the win just a few months ago, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Comet take the crown on Tuesday, but there are plenty of dogs that could walk away as the winner.
Last year, a dog from the Hound group was named Best in Show, so perhaps Louis will take the crown.
All of the competing dogs are worthy of praise, but only one will walk away having been named the Best in Show, and that dog will be decided on Tuesday.
