Knicks' OG Anunoby Hasn't Started Running amid Hamstring Injury Rehab, Thibodeau Says
The New York Knicks are not rushing OG Anunoby during his injury recovery.
When asked if the forward had been doing any running activites since he went down with a hamstring injury, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said that Anunoby has only been doing "pool work."
Anunoby left the Knicks Game 2 matchup against the Indiana Pacers when he planted awkwardly during a layup attempt. The injury sidelined him for Game 3 and will also keep him out of Game 4.
This comes as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on NBA Countdown that Anunoby is "getting treatment on that left hamstring two-to-three times a day" currently and that he has traveled to Indianapolis with the team. However, Wojnarowski also reported that the team is not confident that he will be recovered enough for Game 5, but that their could be some hope for a possible Game 6 return if the series reached that point.
Anunoby's absence has been notable, as he had been excellent prior to the injury. He had scored 28 points in Game 2 prior to suffering the injury in the third quarter and had been averaging 46 minutes per game in the prior four games.
The Knicks had a 2-0 lead in the series against Indiana, but the Pacers were able to secure a win at home and Sunday's Game 4 will present a chance for the team to even the series at two before it returns to Madison Square Garden. This game will come against a Knicks team that will be missing Bojan Bogdanovic, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson in addition to Anunoby.
