NFL Legend Jason Kelce Apologizes for Video Alleging Secretariat Was Given Steroids
Jason Kelce has issued an apology for alleging Secretariat was on steroids when he won the horse racing Triple Crown in 1973.
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce said Secretariat was "juiced to the gills" when discussing all of the speed records the horse still owns 51 years after his historic triumph.

Kelce issued an apology on X, stating it was "unfair to assume these things publicly" without any concrete information.
This certainly isn't the first time it has been alleged Secretariat received steroids. The 2009 book Headless Horseman by Jim Squires about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in horse racing.
In Ray Kerrison's review of the book for the Wall Street Journal, it's noted there is a passage that Squires alleged Secretariat may have raced on steroids.
"'There are oldtimers who insist that even the magnificent physical stature of the great Secretariat was not all genetic and his early problem settling mares'—that is, breeding—'may have been a by-product of steroids.'"
There has never been any sort of evidence that Secretariat was on performance-enhancing drugs. His femur was "extra" long due to some slope on his croup, which added more power to his hindquarters.
Secretariat still holds the record for fastest times in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes, all set in 1973.
