NFL Coach Ranked Colts' Adonai Mitchell Ahead of Bears' Rome Odunze on Draft Board
The Indianapolis Colts are believed to have landed a steal when they drafted wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft.
Longtime NFL analyst Greg Cosell said during an appearance on the Ross Tucker Podcast that he spoke to a veteran NFL coach who had Mitchell ranked in the top three among wide receivers in this year's draft class ahead of Rome Odunze, who was selected by the Chicago Bears with the No. 9 pick.
"I will say that I spoke to one coach who has been in the league for 30 years on the offensive side of the ball, and he had Mitchell as his third-rated wide receiver ahead of Odunze," Cosell said. "So Mitchell has tremendous talent."

Mitchell transferred from Georgia to Texas for the 2023 season and had a strong year, posting 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. Cosell pointed to his size and speed at 6'4" with a 4.34 40-yard dash as reasons he can excel at the professional level.
"Just based on tape, Ross, I thought he had the traits and attributes to develop into a top 10 receiver in the league as his career develops," Cosell said. "I don't want people to think I mean that he will be that from day one, but I think he has the traits to be that kind of receiver."
