Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Zach Berman of PHLY noted that MItchell's deal means Philadelphia has signed its entire 2024 NFL Draft class.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Eagles selected Mitchell with the No. 22 pick of the 2024 draft.
Mitchell was the first cornerback selected in the draft, as well as the first corner drafted by the Eagles since the team's selection of Lito Sheppard in 2002.
He joins the Eagles after four seasons with Toledo and three as a core part of the Rockets' secondary.
Over his final two seasons with Toledo, Mitchell accrued 81 tackles in 27 games. He also totaled 44 passes defended, ranking top two in the FBS in both seasons in the stat.
The Eagles are now hoping Mitchell will be able to translate those defensive skills to the NFL as he looks to complete for a starting role alongside Darius Slay this fall.
Mitchell would have to beat out another veteran in James Bradberry for the position. Bradberry has made 33 starts for the Eagles over the past two seasons.
Mitchell isn't the only rookie the Eagles plan to use to fill out the secondary in 2024. Cooper DeJean, the former Iowa defensive back drafted by the Eagles with the No. 40 pick, is likely to see some playing time as a backup this fall.
