Mets Rumors: Christian Scott Set to Make MLB Debut vs. Rays; NY's No. 5 Prospect
Christian Scott is reportedly heading to the majors.
ESPN's Kiley McDaniel reported Thursday that the New York Mets' pitching prospect will "likely" make his debut at the sport's highest level on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
According to MLB.com's prospect rankings, Scott is the No. 5 prospect in the Mets' system.

New York could use more reinforcements to its starting rotation, as starters Kodai Senga, Tylor Megill and David Peterson are among the team's players on the injured list.
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns discussed the possibility of Scott being called up on Monday when he said, "Christian's done everything we could've hoped and expected," per John Flanigan of SNY.
"I think there's this balancing act of when you call up a prospect versus of when is the prospect ready and then when is there the major league need and often those need to overlap and intersect and for some guys down there we're just waiting for that intersection to occur."
That intersection will reportedly occur during the upcoming series against the Rays.
Scott has pitched for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets this season and has a 3.20 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. The bump up in level of competition has done nothing to impact his overall effectiveness.
He pitched at three different levels in Single-A, Class High-A and Double-A last season and finished with a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 107 strikeouts in 87.2 innings.
The Mets entered Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs with a 15-15 record and sitting in third place in the National League East. They could use a boost if they are going to compete with the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in the division, and they surely hope Scott can provide just that.
